AFC Bournemouth would like to extend a warm welcome to our official charity partners for the 2019/20 season.
More than 2,500 votes were received from supporters, club staff, Junior Cherries and AFC Business members in this season’s charity vote.
The club would like to express its appreciation to everyone who voted and looks forward to working closely with PramaLife, Autism Wessex, Access Dorset and Dorset Search and Rescue this season.
Each charity will benefit from receiving signed merchandise, match tickets, fundraising from select club events and the club’s support in helping to raise the profile and awareness of each organisation.
The charities were welcomed ahead of the Cherries' 3-0 win over Lyon on Saturday (pictured above).
PramaLife – Club Charity Partner
PramaLife supports more than 1,700 older people by providing a range of community-based activity, including support groups for people with dementia and their carers, exercise and crafts groups and social clubs.
We are particularly proud of our Sporting Memories groups, remembering a favourite player can spark happiness in someone with dementia.
Autism Wessex – Junior Cherries Partner
At Autism Wessex, our help is varied and far-reaching. Founded in 1968, we are a regional charity providing specialist support to anyone affected by autism across Dorset, Hampshire and Somerset.
Our services are available to everyone who needs them. Anyone affected by autism can rely on us for support.
Access Dorset – Supporters' Charity Partner
Access Dorset supports disabled and older people to overcome barriers to everyday living.
For example, from The Bridge, Littledown Centre, we support - young people with autism through our vocational training projects, disabled people in severe financial crisis and isolated older people. We campaign for better access (including at Pokesdown Station).
Dorset Search & Rescue – AFC Business Partner
Dorset Search & Rescue comprises 88 team members, all volunteers. Receiving no Government funding, but available 24/7, 365 days of the year to provide considerable resources to support the county's emergency services and vulnerable members of the community.
In 2018, 2,500 hours were spent on live callouts and 2,200 on training.
