Mark Molesley wished Michael Walker well for the future after managing a team of Cherries legends in the Poole Town defender’s testimonial.
Steve Lovell, who netted twice in the Cherries’ League One play-off semi-final against Huddersfield in 2011, repeated the feat as Molesley’s men ran out 5-2 victors at Black Gold Stadium on Wednesday.
Also on target were Carl Fletcher and James Hayter, who both featured in the 2003 League Two play-off final win over Lincoln, and Anton Robinson, a hero of the club’s Greatest Escape in 2009.
The Cherries faced a team of past and present Poole Town players with Walker and Dolphins skipper Jamie Whisken scoring their goals.
Steve Fletcher, Shaun Cooper, Alan Connell, Gareth Stewart, Brian Stock and Danny Hollands also lined up for the Cherries.
Molesley, another veteran of the 2009 Greatest Escape, led Weymouth to promotion from the Southern League this season and directed operations from the technical area due to injury.
He told afcb.co.uk: “We were delighted to field a team for Michael’s testimonial and hopefully we helped give him a good send-off.
“It is never nice to see a player forced to retire due to injury, especially in the non-league ranks, and we would like to wish him all the best for the future.”
Discussing the Cherries’ performance, Molesley quipped: “I was impressed with all of them – I think a few might be knocking on the gaffer’s door for Palace on Sunday!”
