Midfielder Matt Butcher has made a permanent move to League One side Accrington Stanley.

Butcher's move brings to an end a spell of close to a decade with the Cherries, who he first joined as a 13-year-old.

At 18 Butcher made his first-team Bournemouth debut in a League Cup game against Hartlepool United, the midfielder also appearing in the FA Cup win over Birmingham City in January 2016.

Injuries have hampered the 23-year-old progress in recent campaigns, though Butcher has experienced football during loan spells with Yeovil Town and, last season, St Johnstone.

Stanley, under the guidance of longtime manager John Coleman, had another solid season in League One in 2019/20, finishing safe in 17th position.

The club would like to say thank you to Matt for all of his efforts during his time with AFC Bournemouth, now wishing him all the best for his future career.
