Brooks plays as King hits 50

David Brooks came off the bench for Wales as they battled to a 0-0 draw with the Republic of Ireland in Dublin.

Brooks was introduced to proceedings for the final 13 minutes but was unable to conjour a goal in a lifeless encounter at the Aviva Stadium, though one that leaves the Welsh still unbeaten in the current Nations League cycle.

Chris Mepham missed the game after suffering a knee injury in last week's loss to England at Wembley.

Mark Travers was on the bench but unused, the result leaving Wales a point clear of Finland at the top of their Nations League group, Ireland second bottom with just two points so far, a point above Bulgaria.

In Oslo, there was a landmark showing for Joshua King, a late substitute when coming on for hat-trick scorer Erling Braut Haaland as Norway beat Romania 4-0 in the Nations League.

King's appearances was his 50th for his country, coming eight years after his debut in 2012.

Philip Billing was also an unused substitute for Denmark, having made his senior debut earlier in this international break, as the Danes won 3-0 away to Iceland in the Nations League.

Similarly, Asmir Begovic remained on the bench with Bosnia and Herzegovina picking up an impressive 0-0 draw with the Netherlands in their Nations League match, former Cherries man Nathan Ake coming on as a substitute for the away side in Zenica.
