Bath ‘overwhelmed’ by GOTM award

Becki Bath was ‘overwhelmed’ upon receiving her Strategic Solutions Goal of the Month award after winning the August vote.

Becoming the first women’s player to win the prize, the summer signing’s stunning 45-yard free-kick beat the ‘keeper and her opposition in the Goal of the Month Twitter poll, voted for by the club’s followers.

Bath’s brilliant first month in a Cherries shirt saw her nominated twice for the award, with strikes from Dominic Solanke and Jaidon Anthony also making the shortlist.

This week Bath was on hand at Vitality Stadium to receive her winner’s trophy from Natasha O’Neill of Strategic Solutions.

Afterwards, Bath spoke to afcb.co.uk saying: “I feel a bit overwhelmed, it’s a bit crazy and I didn’t expect it at all. When I scored that goal I never would have expected this, I feel very privileged and I’d like to thank everyone who voted.

“The first goal I scored was within the first five minutes and it got the team going, then with the free-kick I knew what I was doing, someone on the sideline had bet me so I knew I had to score.

“I actually voted for Dominic Solanke’s goal! I wanted to see the percentages and then when I did that I saw how close it was I thought, ‘Oh no, have a I voted and helped him win?’

“After that I didn’t really follow the voting, just got on with my day, but I was getting messages from people telling me how close it was.

“It’s been a good first few weeks for me at the club. My aim was come in and assist everyone in making the club bigger and better, hopefully this is a step in the right direction.”

Representing Strategic Solutions, O’Neill was also pleased with the month’s victor: “I’m absolutely honoured to present the award to Becki, a bit of girl power!

“There were some really cracking goals this month and the winner was a real worldie so I’m so pleased she won.

“For Becki to be nominated not just once but for two goals is fantastic, it’s been lovely to meet her today, the award is completely deserved.”

Thank you to everyone who voted in the poll, we would also like to extend our thanks to Strategic Solutions for their continued sponsorship of the competition.
