August Goal of the Month contenders

AFC Bournemouth are launching its first club Goal of the Month competition, in association with Strategic Solutions.

The monthly prize will see four goals from across the club go into a poll to be voted for by supporters.

August’s four nominees have set a very high standard for the season ahead, with two coming from the first team and one each from the women’s and under-21s’ setups.

Goal A came right at the beginning of the month and it was from Katelyn Wort in the club’s women’s first team.

Just 16 years old, Wort was making her debut not only for the Cherries, but in Women’s football and she certainly caught the eye with a stunning 30-yard drive which flew right into the top corner against Torquay.

She’s also usually a centre-back!

Goal B has received plenty of mainstream praise – a magical strike against the Premier League

champions.

Harry Wilson came off the bench and lit up Vitality Stadium with a wondrous 30-yard free-kick against Manchester City, which has also been nominated for the Premier League’s Goal of the Month.

Goal C isn’t a strike from distance, but more a team goal which saw the under-21s earn an impressive win over Brentford B.

Nnamdi Oforborh won the ball high up the pitch, with striker Tyrell Hamilton receiving the ball in the area and fooling the goalkeeper and onrushing defender with some lovely movement to then slot the ball into an empty net.

Goal D is the final nomination and Callum Wilson’s first of the new season.

Wilson made a darting run to receive Ryan Fraser’s pass and from a tight angle with Kasper Schmeichel racing off his line, the England striker produced a majestic finish to dink the ball right into the other corner.

Voting is now open on the club’s Twitter page and the club would like to thank Strategic Solutions for supporting the new Goal of the Month competition.
