Vitality Stadium to host evening with Sophie Cook

Written by afcb.co.uk

On Monday, 12th December, Sophie will take centre stage in the Balfour Suite, at Vitality Stadium, where she will speak about her incredible journey which took her from being former RAF engineer Steve to Sophie, who is now an ambassador for the Kick It Out charity, among others.

Sophie will tell all about her experiences, including the day in the summer of 2015 when she announced to the Bournemouth squad that she was transgender, and in doing so broke down a boundary that existed in the top flight of English football.

“My entire life has been an incredible journey and over the last couple of years that's intensified beyond all of my dreams,” said Sophie.

“Coming out to finally be the real me and to do it at a time when my lifelong club was promoted to the Premier League was amazing.

“This year I've spoken at Wembley Stadium and Anfield but I'm really excited about speaking at Vitality Stadium.

“Together, anything really is possible.”

Space Youth Project, one of the club’s nominated charities for the 2016/17 season which helps support gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender youngsters, will also be present at the free event, which runs from 7-10.30pm.
