Written by afcb.co.uk

In front of an intimate and engrossed audience in the Ambassador Suite, Sophie spoke about her incredible journey from RAF engineer Steve to current Kick It Out ambassador and nationwide role model Sophie.

Space Youth Project, one of the club’s nominated charities for the 2016/17 season which helps support gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender youngsters, were also present at the event.

“It was really strange speaking in front of people who have been part of my story,” Sophie told afcb.co.uk after the event. “It obviously means a lot to speak here at the Vitality Stadium because it’s where it all happened.

“I never expected to still be working in football, but I think when you look at this club’s incredible journey, and my journey, it really does prove that together anything really is possible.

“Whenever I’ve spoken in front of audiences before there hasn’t been anyone who has known Steve. That hasn’t been the case this evening, and to have had those people along with me on this journey has been great.

“The love and support I’ve had from the club and supporters has been really heart-warming.”
