AFC Bournemouth Women recorded yet another three points over the weekend, beating Winchester City Flyers 3-1 away from home.

Goals from Jade Hockey, Meg Vella and Rebecca Miles sealed the win, while Shayne Prasad got a consolation for the hosts.

The Cherries started strongly and got on the scoresheet inside the opening ten minutes through Hockey, who hit a first-time shot into the top corner to give her side the lead.

However, Winchester worked hard and pulled one back just before the break. A ball over the top was cleared by Bournemouth ‘keeper Steph Small, but it hit the striker who duly converted to level things up.

Following the interval, it took just four minutes for Steve Davies’ side to restore their lead, this time Vella was played through by Katie Kingshott, slotting home beyond the ‘keeper.

And the win was rounded off through Miles shortly after, capitalising on a defensive mistake, before turning her defender and finding the target.

Following the game, manager Davies spoke to afcb.co.uk.

“We’re happy with the win,” he began.

“The second half was particularly pleasing and we’re looking forward to finishing our league campaign against New Milton next week.”
