Following a 4-4 draw with Swansea City on Saturday, AFC Bournemouth played their second friendly in as many days, hosting Southampton Women FC yesterday.

The visitors, who play in the National Division, were defeated 1-0 by Steve Davies’ side, who continue to shape up well for the new season.

A Chloe Tape goal was enough to secure the win, with the forward intercepting a Southampton pass before turning and finishing into the right-hand corner.

The Cherries have now played five pre-season fixtures with under a month to go until the new campaign gets underway.

And ahead of the season, manager Steve Davies has shared his excitement with afcb.co.uk after his side gained promotion last year.

“We’re looking forward to it,” he said.

“We’ve made some quality signings which will provide good competition for players.

“The effort and application of the players is excellent and I’m really pleased with how the squad are shaping up.”
