AFC Bournemouth Women progressed to the League Cup final, with an excellent 8-1 win over Warsash Wasps away from home.
Four goals from Chloe Tape, two from Jade Hockey and two from Rosie Eden ensured that it was an afternoon to remember for Steve Davies’ side, who will go on to face Chesham United in the final.
The hosts started well and were quick out of the blocks, scoring with their first attack of the game.
Megan Fox advanced up the pitch and saw her shot fly in off the post, despite pressure from Cherries defender Abi Fletcher.
The Cherries soon regrouped and Tape bagged an equaliser on 23 minutes, slotting home following a strong run.
Just four minutes later and the Cherries were on top following a set-play.
Hockey controlled the ball in from a corner, before bringing it down and finishing to the left of Warsash ‘keeper Lorna Lanham.
With the Cherries rampant, Eden soon got in on the act to make it 3-1, timing her run perfectly to latch onto the end of Tape’s pass and finish beyond Lanham.
Half time loomed, but Davies’ side still had another goal in them, Chloe Tape adding her second of the game firing across the ‘keeper.
After the interval, the Cherries continued where they left off, with Lanham forced into making saves from attacking trio Tape, Eden and Hockey.
12 minutes into the second half, Hockey got her second of the game, converting Emma Davis’ cross with a first-time finish.
Moments later and Tape was able to complete her hat-trick, outmuscling the Warsash defender before slotting another.
And the 24-year-old wasn’t done there, adding a fourth to her tally for the second week in a row.
With the score at 7-1, Eden completed the job just one minute later after being played through and opening up her body for her second and the Cherries’ eighth of the game.
Following the game, a delighted Davies spoke with afcb.co.uk about the result.
“It was an excellent response to going a goal down so early on,” he began.
“I thought it was probably one of the best performances of the season and we look forward to playing Chesham in the final.”
