AFC Bournemouth Women recorded an impressive 2-2 draw, as they hosted Yeovil Town Reserves in their penultimate pre-season clash.

A tight first half saw the teams tied at 0-0, with the Glovers’ attacking threat being contained well and the Cherries creating chances themselves.

Following the break, it was the home side who pressed forward and were duly rewarded for their efforts.

Terri Harvey was on hand to convert Bethany Perdrisat’s superb cross and give the Cherries a well-deserved lead ten minutes into the second half.

Moments later, the visitors, whose first team play in the top division of the Women’s Super League, got one back as one of their strikers netted well from a tight angle.

With the scores locked at 1-1, the Cherries pushed for a winner and continued to create chances, before a moment of magic from Chloe Tape saw the ball find the net.

A strong run from just inside the Glovers’ half saw the former Bristol Academy midfielder beat her opposite number, before forcing an excellent save from the visiting keeper and pouncing on the rebound.

The Cherries soon had a chance to make it 3-1, after Rosie Eden was fouled just outside the area and Tape’s resulting free-kick went inches wide.

However, in the dying moments, a Yeovil winger made a good run from the right-hand side, before crossing it in for a fellow Glover to convert home.

Following the result, Cherries manager Steve Davies had nothing but praise for his squad.

“I’m really pleased with the performance,” he explained.

“Yeovil were our toughest test of pre-season so to come away with a draw is brilliant.

“We also had a couple of girls unavailable for the game so the result is even more pleasing and it’s a great confidence boost for the squad.”

Next up for the Cherries is Barking Abbey Girls under-18s, who will make the visit down south on Sunday, as AFC Bournemouth wrap up their pre-season schedule.
