AFC Bournemouth recorded a 7-1 win over Southampton Women’s Reserves in the Jubilee Cup on Sunday.

Four goals from Chloe Tape, two from Terri Harvey and one from captain Sian Tilly ensured the Women got back to winning ways yesterday afternoon.

The match got off to a flying start with Hannah Bennett, Ayuma Asira and Tape all going close inside the opening 15 minutes.

However, it wasn’t long before the deadlock was broken, with Abi Fletcher playing a through ball to Tape, who rounded the ‘keeper to net for 1-0.

Seven minutes later, the attacker got her second of the game. Aimee Burridge’s first-time pass into Tape was finished well, after turning the Southampton centre-back and striking to the right of the visiting ‘keeper.

And the Cherries weren’t done there. On the half-hour mark, a Southampton defender handled in the box, with the referee pointing straight to the spot.

Captain Sian Tilly stepped up and converted for 3-0.

Just before half-time, Steve Davies’ side grabbed a fourth, with Tape emphatically finishing from inside the box to complete her hat-trick.

After the break, the Cherries continued where they left off.

However, on the hour mark, Southampton pulled one back through a corner, the visitors taking advantage of the ball bouncing around in the Cherries box.

Almost immediately, the hosts had a reply. Harvey had a chance after being put though by Jade Hockey, but the first-time shot was just wide.

With 67 minutes gone, recent signing Meg Vella saw her shot hit the post, whilst Tape’s follow up was saved. However, the ball then fell to Hockey, who found Tape, with the 24-year-old curling home for her fourth.

Less than two minutes later, Harvey was on hand to add to the tally. A ball was played out by the Southampton defence and cleared straight to the forward, who lobbed the onrushing ‘keeper to make it six.

With four minutes to go, the Cherries added one final goal to their tally. Chloe Spencer played it through to Harvey, who turned the defender and netted to round off an excellent afternoon for the hosts.

Following the win, manager Davies spoke to afcb.co.uk about the result.

“After last week’s defeat, we were looking for a response and I’m really pleased with how we played,” he began.

“We scored some very good goals in what was a good all-round team performance.”
