Christian Saydee continued his sensational start to the season but it wasn't enough as the Cherries were beaten 2-1 at Oxford United.

The frontman has now scored nine goals in nine games as the Cherries sit second in the Youth Alliance Group D league.

The loss to the U's was the youngster's first league defeat of a stellar beginning to the campaign.

After some early chances for Alan Connell's side, in which only a fantastic bit of goalkeeping prevented them from taking the lead, 19 minutes in the hosts had the lead.

Fabio Lopes found the bottom corner but in the 35th minute, the Cherries had their equaliser through Saydee.

In the wide right area, Saydee drifted in-field and hit a superb strike that found the bottom-left corner.

With 15 minutes to go the U's regained the lead through Leon Chambers-Parillon, and that made it a tense finish with the Cherries desperately searching for a point.

Plenty of bodies were sent forward and once again, the hosts had goalkeeper Max Evans for another superb save to thwart Connell's men.

The next outing for the Cherries is next Saturday against Newport County at Canford Park Arena.
