Substitute Khavarn Williams came off the bench to fire AFC Bournemouth to victory over EFL Youth Alliance rivals Cheltenham Town today.
Williams, on as a 69th-minute replacement for Jake Adams, netted twice to settle the contest in favour of Alan Connell’s team.
Luke Pardoe and Ben Greenwood were also on target for the visitors as they bounced back after going down 4-2 at Plymouth in their last outing.
The deadlock was broken in the 12th minute when Brandon Channell made a darting run through the centre before passing to Pardoe.
And he made no mistake, rounding Robins goalkeeper Freddie Lapworth and slotting the ball into an empty net to register his eighth goal of the season.
However, the lead lasted just 60 seconds as Cheltenham hit back when Aaron Basford headed past Cherries goalkeeper Billy Terrell.
The visitors restored their advantage in the 22nd minute when Greenwood netted a delightful free-kick from the edge of the box, his first goal for the club.
Pardoe, who also scored against the Robins earlier this season, then struck the crossbar, while Brennan Denness-Barrett hit the post as Cherries went in at the break leading 2-1.
The hosts levelled a minute into the second half when Aaron Evans-Harriott seized on Harvey Bertrand’s poor backpass before firing past Terrell.
However, following the introduction of Williams, the pendulum swung in favour of the Cherries and he celebrated his maiden goal for the club fewer than 10 minutes after coming on.
Williams picked up the ball just outside the 18-yard box and curled a spectacular effort into the top corner, giving Lapworth no chance.
And he completed the scoring on the stroke of full-time, finishing at the far post after Pardoe had lifted the ball over the head of Lapworth.
Cherries XI: Terrell, Genesini, Greenwood, Wadham, Channell, Bertrand, Adams (Williams, 69), Gray, Pardoe, Murray (Burgess, 82), Oliver (Gidaree, 78).
