Despite the result, manager Alan Connell told afcb.co.uk that there is still plenty for his young side to improve upon.
"The performance wasn't particularly pleasing, if I'm honest," he said. "It was a hot day on a good pitch and we emphasized the need to move the ball quickly, but there were too many unforced errors and sloppy passes and it made for a frustrating afternoon.
"We conceded early but some credit goes to the players for keeping going on a hot day. We played everyone for 45 minutes each, and it was always planned to push them hard on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week. We trained them hard on Monday and that may have had an impact upon our performance on Tuesday. That was part of our pre-season plan, to get that into them.
"We huffed and puffed, defensively we looked a little bit better but there's lots of work to do there. Going forwards we did create a few chances but we were wasteful in front of goal.
"It wasn't the sort of performance that I'll reflect on positively but within that there are things we can work on; we will, and you're always going to have your dips along the way.
"The attitude's been good and now we're getting towards the latter stage of pre-season and it's a case of stepping up to the plate and making sure we're ready for the season, and I've no doubt we will be."
