A late goal flurry helped AFC Bournemouth under-18s secured a convincing 6-0 victory over Newport County.
The result was the fifth time that Alan Connell's side have scored more than four goals in a game this season, as the first three goals came from Luke Pardoe, Connor Kurran-Browne and Christian Saydee before inspired substitute, Euan Pollock, helped impact three late goals in four minutes.
After Saydee rattled the post early on, the Cherries’ dominance eventually told when they took the lead in the fifth minute.
Pardoe won the ball just inside the Newport half, held off three defenders and a driving run took him to the edge of the box where he fired home superbly.
Only two minutes later, Pardoe was involved again and played a lovely cut back pass into Kurran-Browne inside the box who tapped it home from six-yards out to double the lead.
Gray almost added a third in the 13th minute after a pass from Adams allowed him to drill a shot towards goal but a great save by Callum George denied him.
A number of chances fell the Cherries’ way, but it didn’t take long into the second-half for Saydee to get his name on the scoresheet as a curling effort from the edge of the box into the top right corner was too perfectly placed for the keeper.
Newport almost managed to pull one back in the 55th minute after Elis Watts saw his powerful attempt fly just wide of the left post.
Saydee, who had just added his seventh goal in as many games, almost got his second of the game but paid the price by leaving it too late in the area to get his shot off, allowing Callum George to snatch it from under his feet.
Jake Adams was replaced by Khavern Williams in the 67th minute and then Jordan Murray was brought on in the 72nd for Jack Wadham.
The final sub was made in the 77th minute when Pollock came on in place of goalscorer Pardoe and it didn’t take long for the substitute to get in on the act.
Three minutes later, he plundered a goal for himself as the frontman linked up beautifully with Saydee for several passes just inside the penalty area before putting himself in a position to slot the ball home from a few yards out.
Pollock wasn’t done there though, because only one minute later he scored his second of the game with an effort inside the box that rolled past the keeper into the bottom right corner.
His passion really showed and he was encouraging the team to go again from the restart, and they did exactly that by scoring just a minute later. Saydee scored his second of the game again slotting it past the keeper’s right inside the area to make it 6-0 in the 83rd minute.
In an effort to see the game off, Alan Connell made his fourth and fifth substitutions with Aaron Robers and Jack Seddon replacing Brandon Channell and Brooklyn Genesini.
However, it was all too late for Newport as the referee blew his whistle for full-time which saw the Cherries come out as convincing victors.
