The Cherries youth team record a 4-0 EFL Youth Alliance Cup win over Peterborough United.

Jake Scrimshaw and Gavin Kilkenny got the Cherries on their way before the interval, while after the break Antonio Diaz and Ash Pope added gloss to the scoreline.

The win takes Bournemouth a step closer to retaining the title they won at Wigan Athletic last season.

After the match under-18s manager Alan Connell spoke to afcb.co.uk: "We expected a team in Peterborough United that could cause anyone problems.

"Our lads started really well, both on and off the ball, and we stopped them playing while creating chances of our own.

"We scored two good first-half goals and that set us up. At half time we challenged the lads to perform for 90 minutes and they did that.

"We managed the game well, showed good passing and movement and now look forward to the next round.

"Having won the trophy last year that gives us extra incentive to defend our title and give a good account of ourselves."
