The young Cherries were in control of the game for large periods and their domination was eventually reflected in the scoreline.

Diaz’s hat-trick and a strike from Connor Morrison ensured that Carl Fletcher’s youngsters responded in the best possible fashion after losing at Cambridge United in the FA Youth Cup last week.

“It was a good response after the disappointment at Cambridge,” youth team manager Carl Fletcher told afcb.co.uk. “We dominated the game for large parts and had an end product in the final third.

“From our point of view, it was interesting to see how the players responded following that FA Youth Cup game. Players will react in different ways, but it was pleasing to see that some of them have taken it on the chin and are now moving forward.

“We know we still have room for improvement, particularly in the final third, but the work rate and endeavour from the lads has been really pleasing.

“We now have a bit of break over the Christmas period. It gives the lads a chance to spend some time with their families and recover.

“It’s an important time over the New Year and into January and February, as there are a lot of important decisions to be made with our players doing their utmost to progress.”
