An entertaining game was played out at a sunny Gtech Community Stadium, as the Cherries followed up their first win of the season in midweek with another encouraging performance in west London.

David Brooks had put Andoni Iraola's side ahead with 15 minutes to go after Dominic Solanke equalised following Mathias Jensen's early free-kick.

Jensen's opener came in fairly unique circumstances when his strike from a tight angle was parried away from goal too late by Neto. Bobby Madley's watch seemingly wasn't working, leaving his assistants to advise the referee moments later that the ball had indeed crossed the line.

Andoni Iraola's side responded well, becoming the stronger side and creating a number of opportunities. Dominic Solanke couldn't quite get a shot away to cap off a powerful drive through opposition territory and was involved again seconds later when he tried to flick the ball past Mark Flekken following some incredible dribbling from Ryan Christie. The Scotland international danced his way through the Brentford defence.

Brentford soaked up the pressure and countered well. Neto needed to be alert to deflect Schade's effort on to the post.

The visitors were still in the ascendancy, though, and shortly after Justin Kluivert had a shot blocked, they had their equaliser. Marcos Senesi found the ball in space following a sliding challenge from Milos Kerkez on Mbeumo, and curved the ball into the path of Solanke. The striker coolly slotted home in front of the away supporters.

Following the break, Brentford started the brighter of the two sides, with Mbeumo, Janelt and Norgaard all missing good chances. They hit the woodwork for a second time near the hour-mark, when Yoane Wissa twisted free before striking the foot of the post.

The Cherries went ahead with 15 minutes remaining, as David Brooks added to his goal at Swansea City in the Carabao Cup with another wonderfully-taken finish. The goal was set up by the efforts of Marcus Tavernier on the left wing.

Tavernier, who was making his eagerly-awaited return to action having replaced Kluivert, collected the ball in open space having chased down a ball in behind the defence. Instead of shooting, he chose to square the ball for the Welshman, who faked a shot before firing home.

In response, the hosts changed their shape in order to throw fresh legs on in the opposition half. The Cherries had withstood pressure from set pieces, with Neto saving excellently from the head of Christian Nørgaard, but hopes of a first three-point return were dashed in the third minute of added time when Mbeumo slid the ball past the Cherries captain.
