Commentary By

Thanks for your support!

Over 600 brilliant Bournemouth fans made the long midweek trip here this evening, we tip our hats and thank you for your undying support.

And to everyone at home following along in any way that you have, thanks!

Sheffield United to come next, a big one back at Vitality on Saturday!

Six minutes added

Solanke goes close from the corner as he rises highest and heads onto the top of the net.

Meanwhile, six additional minutes are signalled.

Big interception

The Cherries are almost in as a long ball looks set to find Solanke, but a defender gets across to head behind.

Lots of stoppages now

The game is becoming scrappy as we reach the final few minutes.

Can either side grab a winner?

Change of wingers

The Cherries have switched Anthony and Lowe, the former taking place on the right wing and the latter on the left.

Peterborough win a corner with a rare foray forward, good defending by a combination of Kelly and Cahill stops the attack. Solanke heads away the delivery.

This is a good opportunity!

A cross deflects off Edwards and falls to Solanke inside the area.

He hits it on the turn but can't control his effort and skies it.

Yellow for Burrows

Jordan Zemura is fouled but continues going forward and the referee plays advantage.

That's until Harrison Burrows comes across and attempts to wipe hime out. He's rightly booked as a result.

That's excellent skill by Solanke!

He makes a quick swivel on the half-way line and races away from his marker.

He momentarily looks to have overrun it in the box but wins the ball back and squares it for Anthony, but his goal-bound effort is blocked by a defender on the line.

We're good to continue

Nathan Thompson is fine to continue but there's another stoppage moments later thanks to a foul from Anthony.

This might be a trend for the remaining 15 minutes or so.

Break in play for treatment

A Peterborough man needs treatment for an injury he has picked up fouling Jordan Zemura.

On our left, the Cherries fans are making a lot of noise! We're so grateful for the support.

Final change for the Cherries

Jamal Lowe replaces David Brooks as Scott Parker chases the opening goal.

Let's go, Jamz!

Slight change in positioning

The substitutions mean that Ben Pearson has adopted the holding midfield role and Jefferson Lerma has pushed forward.

Anthony is a straight swap on the left for Rogers, and has an early touch with a cross to the near post that is caught just before Billing can get there.

For the home side, they make their final change as Jorge Grant is replaced by Sammie Szmodics.

Double sub for the Cherries

Jaidon Anthony and Ben Pearson come on for the Cherries.

Meanwhile, Jack Taylor and Siriki Dembele are replaced by Joe Ward and Conor Coventry for the home side.

Solanke shot saved!

Again the Cherries attack with purpose and this time Rogers slips in Solanke on the left side of the box.

He shuffles onto his right foot and fires at goal, hitting it sweetly. It's straight at Cornell however who does well to hold onto it.

A frustrating slip

The Cherries are almost in!

Edwards' clearance is headed forward by Lerma and Billing flicks it into a great area.

Solanke looks to be through but slips at the vital moment and the ball rolls kindly into the goalkeepers arms.

The pace has definitely quickened in the second half from the Cherries as Brooks drives in-field with purpose.

He spreads it to Rogers on the left who rides a challenge in the box and gets a cross off, but it is deflected behind for a corner.

The corner is clipped towards the near post and Solanke glances it against the side-netting.

Penalty? No!

The Cherries attack down the left and Solanke appears to be blocked off as he attempts to make a run in the box.

The players appeal to the referee but he emphatically says no.

A chance for Brooks!

It's been a bright start from the Cherries as they win a corner with some quick passing around the Peterborough box.

The corner is played short between Rogers and Solanke, the former playing a drilled ball to Brooks in the middle.

It's nicely weighted but the Welshman gets his effort all wrong and it flies high over the bar.

Decent opening though!

Back underway

Peterborough get this second half underway.

Come on you Cherries!

The Cherries are back out

Doesn't appear to be any changes at the break as they return to the pitch.

Second half coming soon...

Stats at the break

The stats in the first half probably fairly summarise the opening period.

The Cherries have dominated with 58% possession but have only had three shots, compared to Peterborough's four.

Most of the home side's shots have come from distance and they're yet to get one on target, the Cherries have twice.

But little else separates the two teams. It will be interesting to see how each side comes out in the second half.

That's the break

Half-time here at Weston Homes Stadium and it's goalless.

Half-time approaching

We're getting close to the break here and nothing to separate the two sides as of yet.

We're getting it into good areas but the passing hasn't been as crisp and as incisive as we'd like.

One minute is added on by the official.

Christie forces a save

The Scotland international receives the ball from the edge of the box and fires at goal.

It's low and awkward for Cornell but the lack of pace on the effort makes it fairly comfortable for the home goalkeeper.

Chances few and far between

It's proved difficult for the Cherries any clear-cut chances but we're continuing to plug away and we're sure chances will come.

Peterborough scare Travers with a shot from about 40 yards as Jack Taylor lets loose. It's dipping and powerful but flies just wide of the right post.

Good defending by Cahill

Edwards once again takes his time in possession at the back and finds himself under pressure.

To his credit, however, he plays a good pass into midfield and Peterborough are suddenly on the counter attack.

Good one-touch play works it to Burrows on the right flank and his cross for Clarke-Harris is excellent.

However, Cahill stretches out a leg and makes a crucial intervention, allowing Kelly to clear.

Posh playing out of the back

Have to say, credit to Peterborough because they're keen to play out from the back.

This time, however, it almost gets them in trouble.

Ronnie Edwards, the 18-year-old centre-back who is receiving lots of plaudits at the moment, takes a few touches too many and is tackled by Solanke.

The ball ricochets awkwardly off Solanke and Billing and the Cherries can't form a chance from it. But it's good pressure from the front players.

The closest we've come!

Taylor fires wide

The home side have had their first period of pressure as they force a series of corners.

The first one is played short and worked out to Jack Taylor, who fires from distance. It takes a deflection and goes out for another corner.

The next two cause fewer problems and the Cherries get a bit of relief as a ball down the right side of the box goes out for a goal kick.

Christie fires over!

Excellent skill by Brooks again as he controls a Lerma pass and glides into the box, sending Butler going another way.

He tries to thread it to Stacey, who has made an underlapping run, but a Posh defender gets there first.

However his clearance bounces off a fellow Blue and Christie is able to fire at goal, but it's an awkward height and it flies over.

Starting to cause problems!

We continue to push!

The Cherries have come alive!

Excellent interchange in the middle allowed a ball to be threaded through to Stacey who had made a great overlapping run.

He arrives in the box and has the choice of shooting or trying to cut it back, choosing the latter.

Unfortunately, a Posh defender gets a foot on it and Zemura can't quite meet it at the edge of the box to get a shot off.

Rogers goes close!

The first chance of the game!

A throw-in is flicked into the path of Morgan Rogers in the box, he bounds past one defender and moves it onto his left foot.

Cornell comes out quickly to narrow the angle and blocks his effort, which he'd looked to slide underneath him.

The resulting corner, which was aimed at the near post, was well defended but a promising move for the Cherries.

Lovely skill by Brooks

David Brooks shows beautiful skill and awareness to nutmeg Dan Butler and race beyond the half-way line.

His pass is sloppy though and Peterborough counter attack, finding Dembele racing down the left flank. However, Jack Stacey gets back quickly and makes an inch-perfect sliding tackle. Excellent defending.

Quiet game so far

Neither side has got going just yet, the Cherries holding possession but it's not quite fluid yet. They've tried to quickly get it out to one of the frontmen, either out wide or in a channel for Solanke to run onto but Peterborough defending well.

The home side have got in a couple nice areas but yet to cause any problems, the only moment to get the crowd excited came when a decent cross went across goal but there was no striker in proximity.

It's been a patient start

The Cherries have had most of the ball in the early stages and have looked for the quick switch of play to either Brooks or Rogers, although none have fully come off yet.

Peterborough aren't sitting deep, as they're leaving two or three forward, but it's very compact and very narrow in the central areas. You'd think the two wide men could be important in that case.

We're underway!

The Cherries kick this fixture off as Solanke plays it back to Lerma.

Let's go, lads!

Here the teams come!

Here the two teams come at the Weston Homes Stadium!

The atmosphere is cracking with over 600 Cherries fans making the trip on my left side.

Kick-off is only a few moments away...

Here's how we line-up!

Scott Parker makes three changes to the side that beat Luton Town on Saturday.

Jack Stacey, David Brooks and Morgan Rogers are in with Adam Smith,  Ben Pearson and Jaidon Anthony making way.

Let's hope it's a winning formula!

It's starting to get chilly in Cambridgeshire but the Cherries are here and it definitely feels like a matchday!
