Commentary By

A disappointing defeat for AFC Bournemouth at Vitality Stadium.

Another change for Middlesbrough

Ikpeazu comes on for Sporar.

Sporar forces a save

Travers makes another good save from Sporar. The home forward now down with cramp but eventually back to his feet.

Tavernier misses a good chance

Middlesbrough counter quickly and Tavernier is played the ball inside the area but blasts over.

Five minutes added on

The assistant signals the additional period.

Hernandez fires wide from the edge of the box.

Change for Middlesbrough

Isaiah Jones is replaced by Sol Bamba for the final few minutes.

Middlesbrough doing very well to disrupt the flow of the last couple minutes.

Treatment for Tavernier

The Middlesbrough man needed treatment after that Lowe chance, and has taken a few minutes to receive it.

Play does eventually continue as Middlesbrough aim for the Cherries corner.

Almost an equaliser for Bournemouth!

The Cherries counter attack quickly through Brady, who plays in Lowe.

He fires at the far corner but Lumley sticks out a leg.

Somehow the rebound doesn't fall for Solanke and Middlesbrough eventually get it clear, although Kilkenny's shot is blocked in the resulting scramble.

Middlesbrough think they've got a second as Hernandez fires into the bottom corner.

However, he's in an offside position - which the assistant has got correct - and Hernandez gets a yellow for taking his shirt off.

Excellent defending Stacey

The Cherries have a corner but Middlesbrough get it clear and Zemura gets caught on the ball.

Jones races away on the left and it appears to be a 2v1, Stacey the only defender back.

Not only does he cut off the pass, he does enough to deflect Jones' shot behind for a corner.

He then rises highest from the resulting set piece to head away.

The Cherries getting frustrated

The tensions have risen here at Riverside Stadium and the Cherries are getting caught up in that a bit, the build-up play from the back isn't coherent enough and we're giving it away too easily.

Meanwhile, Jones is booked for a foul on Zemura.

Brady is now playing on the right flank, Stanislas on the left with Lowe and Solanke up top.

Neil Taylor booked

The Middlesbrough debutant gets a yellow card for a cynical foul on Jamal Lowe as he counter attacked.

Meanwhile, Robbie Brady comes on for Lewis Cook. Let's go Robbie!

Again Travers tips over

Dijksteel's mis-hit cross almost catches out Travers, but he does well to tip it over the bar.

Good save Travers!

Good build-up play by Middlesbrough as they keep the ball well, the ball eventually lands at Sporar at the edge of the box and his fierce effort is tipped over by Travers.

Change for Middlesbrough

Onel Hernandez replaces Duncan Watmore.

The winger, on loan from Norwich City, will look to keep stretching the Cherries on the counter attack for the final 15 minutes or so.

Billing trying to make things happen...

35-yards out, the substitute takes a free-kick, which you think is far too far out for a shot, but the winger whips it low and around the wall...

... it bounces awkwardly in front of the goalkeeper but Lumley has to palm it away.

A good effort from Stanislas, we're pushing here...

Boro sitting deeper...

After the substitutions and the goal, Boro are quite happy to sit back and defend the advantage they have.

We've tested the hosts' defence with a few more direct passes towards the back-post areas but McNair in particular has defended solidly for Chris Wilder's men.

We are seeing Kilkenny, Lewis Cook and Billing getting more of the ball which is an encouraging sign with 24 minutes left to play.

There are the two changes...

We'll be seeing Junior Stanislas back on the pitch which is great to see. Hopefully his intelligence and ability to unlock defences will come to the fore as he comes on for Ryan Christie.

The second sub we make is the introduction of Jamal Lowe for Jaidon Anthony.

Lowe has a memorable substitute appearance away from home at Reading, hopefully he can provide some more of the same magic here!

Lowe will play on the right and Stanislas on the left - the rest of the shape remains the same.

We just haven't got going this half...

We haven't really had much of the ball in the opponents half, in contrast to what we were able to do in the first half.

Phil Billing has just been put into the referee's book for his seventh yellow card of the season for a late challenge on Dijksteel.

Scott Parker is in constant discussion with Matt Wells and the coaching staff on the bench so I think we'll be seeing some changes soon in order to change the flow of the game.

1-0 Middlesbrough

Jaidon Anthony fouls Isaiah Jones and the referee blows for a penalty. The contact looked to be outside the area.

Sporar steps up and slams home. He fires it into the bottom left corner, Travers went the right way but couldn't get there.

Travers again!

Andraz Sporar is played in behind and tries to drill an effort into the far corner but Travers was out quickly and makes the block with his feet.

Howson follows up with a header but Cahill makes the block before the third effort is put wide.

The Irish goalkeeper has been excellent today!

Back underway!

No changes for either side here.

The big talking point of the half was probably Christie's late miss at the end of the first half but hopefully the Cherries can create more good opportunities in this second half and arrest the winless run.

Let's go lads!

That first half

It was a tough opening ten minutes as Middlesbrough started really brightly, Isaiah Jones on the right causing particular problems and Matt Crooks should have scored.

However, the Cherries have had the better of the ball and the better of the chances since then.

Anthony put an effort wide from Howson's poor pass, before Solanke glanced Christie's effort the wrong side of the post.

Christie could have scored in the final moments of the half but couldn't put any meaningful connection to Billing's cross.

To sum it up, the Cherries have had 64% of possession and five shots on goal, but none have been on target.

A frustrating opening 45 minutes in North Yorkshire.

The Cherries have dominated the ball in the first half and created three excellent chances, but failed to take them.

Meanwhile, Mark Travers has made two excellent saves to prevent Middlesbrough from getting their noses in front.

Another big chance!

Out of nothing, Billing finds himself behind the backline and sends in an inch-perfect delivery for Christie at the back post.

Under pressure from Taylor, the Scot fails to make clear contact and the ball bounces behind for a goal-kick.

We've not been clinical this half.

Yellow for Cahill

It's a cynical foul by Cahill as Watmore started to break away on the left flank and the centre-back gets a yellow card.

Best chance so far but no opening goal yet!

Great save!

Another superb save by Travers!

Dijksteel's effort from the edge of the box takes a wicked deflection off Kelly and Travers, whose weight was being shifted in the wrong direction, adjusts to get an arm out and push it away.

Excellent goalkeeping.

Another big chance!

Again the Cherries should be ahead!

Kelly finds Christie with an excellent diagonal ball, he stands up the defender and works space to cross the ball.

It's a lovely ball into the middle again and Solanke rises highest at the back post, but his header falls the wrong side of the back post.

The second big opportunity for Scott Parker's side in a matter of minutes.

Wow. That's a chance from Anthony.

We just said they've been pressing well and a poor pass from Howson is intercepted by Anthony.

He weaves past Dijksteel into the area and fires at goal with his left foot, but puts it just wide.

That was a golden opportunity.

A quiet period in the game

The Cherries have largely dominated the ball in this opening 30 minutes but haven't created many clear-cut opportunities.

Middlesbrough have threatened on the counter attack but are being fairly well marshalled at this stage.

But the Cherries struggling to get the ball into Solanke's feet so far, so the link-up play at the top hasn't been as good as it usually is but they're pressing well.

Good to see Zemura back involved!

Christie curls wide

The first real shot in anger from a Cherries point of view.

Billing wins the ball in midfield and Christie can cut onto his left foot and aim an effort at the far corner.

However, it bounces comfortably wide of Lumley's right-hand post.

Jones causing problems

Middlesbrough's biggest threat is coming through Isaiah Jones on the right flank.

He is lightening quick and has been a real foot race with Zemura already this afternoon.

Zemura is trying to get forward when he can too which sometimes leaves space for Jones to drive into, so Kilkenny and Kelly will be vital at plugging the gap when it's there.

Opportunity wasted

The Cherries have a good chance as Dijksteel's heavy touch is pounced upon by Solanke inside the area.

He leaves it for Anthony, who looks to slip in the striker but it's too heavy and rolls behind for a goal-kick.

Should have done more with that opportunity!

Kilkenny takes a knock

The diminutive midfielder comes off worse in a 50/50 aerial clash and the referee is very quick to bring on the medical team.

Thankfully, he's quickly sat up and back on his feet and he's good to continue.

An early battle

Excellent goalkeeping by Travs!

Middlesbrough look a threat on the counter attack and have a big opportunity to open the scoring.

Isaiah Jones breaks away on the right flank, eventually firing a low cross in to the middle of the box.

Matt Crooks meets it and fires at goal from close range, Travers doing brilliantly to make the reflex block.

Early opportunity for Boro

It's been a frantic opening minute as Middlesbrough win an early corner.

Zemura had made an early dash down the left flank to highlight his recent absence, but Anthony's touch was heavy as he neared the area.

Then Cahill's lacklustre pass was intercepted by Watmore and he drove into the box, but took too long to fire at goal and Kilkenny was back to send it behind.

The corner was dangerous but missed everyone at the back post and the Cherries can get it away.

We're underway!

The Cherries kick us off here at Riverside Stadium.

Here they come!

The Cherries lead the two teams out at Riverside Stadium in our green third shirts.

Let's go, lads!

10 minutes until kick-off

The atmosphere is building up here at Riverside Stadium, the travelling fans are in great noise already!

We're only 10 minutes away from kick-off.

A sensational effort

With the fixture kicking off at 12.30pm, the travelling Cherries fans had to be up in the early hours of the morning to board coaches around Dorset and travel up.

We're expecting over 500 fans to be in attendance which is a fantastic effort. Full credit to everyone who has made the trip!

Lewis Cook ahead of kick-off

That is an excellent piece of team news!

Scott Parker welcomes back Jordan Zemura for the first time since the win over Reading, his first appearance in seven matches!

Lloyd Kelly also returns to the starting line-up, his first start since the win over Swansea City.

Meanwhile, Junior Stanislas is fit to be named on the bench. His last game came as a short substitutes appearance against Huddersfield in October.

The gaffer will no doubt be delighted to have some strong depth back to the squad.

How we line-up this lunchtime

Here's the squad that Scott Parker has named for today's game.

Jordan Zemura returns!

The Gaffer is here

The Cherries head coach Scott Parker has arrived at Riverside Stadium.

We'll find out who he's named in his starting line-up in less than 10 minutes, Parker suggesting midweek that the likes of Zemura, Kelly and Stanislas are back in contention.

Welcome to afcb.co.uk's live coverage as the Cherries take on Middlesbrough in today's lunchtime kick-off.

Some of our supporters were up as early as 1am to begin travelling up to North Yorkshire, an incredible effort!

We'll have full updates throughout the afternoon as Scott Parker's side look to get back to winning ways.
