Commentary By

Our first away defeat of the season...

Despite an effort from Kilkenny being saved and Christie heading over in injury time, we just couldn't break down the hosts and we're defeated here at Pride Park.

Wherever you are around the world, thank you so much for following us, we really appreciate it.

We have a quick turnaround and a chance to put things right against Millwall on Wednesday, we'll see you then.

FIVE minutes added on time here...

You back us to create something as Derby sit even deeper here, hopefully our attacking talent can create something for us here in the final five...

Huge chance...

Billing misses!

We work it really well to Anthony on the right-hand side and swings the perfect cross to the back post where Billing is completely unmarked and waiting!

But the big Dane, from close range, nods it wide of the post! That's a huge chance for us!

Derby being resolute to close out the game...

They've just brought on Richard Stearman to replace Festy Ebosele and they've kept plenty of bodies behind the ball - unfortunately for us defending quite well.

They've restricted us to quite few attempts at goal, with Anthony smashing one over from just inside the box moments ago.

But you back our quality to create one more good opportunity before the game ends...

Chance for Kazim-Richards...

Lawrence produces a good bit of skill on the left-hand side and he manages to squeeze a cross into the penalty area.

Kazim-Richards is about eight-yards out and dives towards it, making great contact, but fortunately for us it flew wide of the post.

We've let the game get away from us here as Derby have been galvanised by their home support.

A double change for us...

Rogers and Lowe are coming on now as we're making some attacking changes.

Lerma and Davis are off.

That also means a change in shape for us, it looks like we'll be playing five at the back with Rogers coming on as the left-wing back, with Anthony playing as the right-wing back.

Stacey will be playing on the right side of the back three.

GOAL for Derby.

After the initial foul by Stacey, Lawrence steps up to smash home the spot-kick down the middle.

We're behind in the game now after being quite comfortable for large spells here.

PENALTY to Derby.

The goal has given Pride Park a massive lift...

The fans are so loud here now the goal has gone in, they're driving the hosts on and the players have responded.

We're having to do some defending here and we're under real pressure...

GOAL for Derby.

Tom Lawrence curls in a wonder goal to make it 2-2.

We don't clear our lines and Lawrence gets the ball on the left-hand side.

He's at a tight angle but he strokes it in from just inside the area, whipping it with real pace into the top far corner.

It's an unstoppable shot but perhaps we could've dealt with the initial ball better.

Our first change...

And Lewis Cook completes just under an hour here on his first start for 260 days.

A good display in what's been a real physical battle at times this afternoon.

Kilkenny comes on for him and it's a straight swap at the base of our midfield.

Shout out for Davis...

Going forward, he's been a real menace for us and considering he hasn't played too much football this season, he's been a real engine on the left-hand side.

His relationship with Anthony on that side has stood out as well and he's also defended well for large periods.

Hopefully he can continue in the same vein!

First booking for us...

The ball just goes out of play on this near side and Billing didn't quite hear the whistle.

He smashes the ball to the other side when all the other players have stopped and gets a yellow card.

He'll now miss Millwall after picking up his fifth yellow of the season.

A really good break!

Lewis Cook at his best, feeds a lovely pass out wide to Stacey with Solanke and Billing in the middle!

Solanke's made a great run beyond his man but Stacey overhits the pass and it goes harmlessly wide and away from danger.

Unlucky! If Stacey got that pass right we have a real chance there, his lungbusting energy has been a real asset for us this afternoon.

Back underway!

No changes for either side at the break, with the Cherries fans in good voice as the second-half begins.

We'll keep you going with all the updates of - hopefully - a positive second-half!

Well, we showed great character to going behind - two well-taken finishes from Jaidon Anthony and Dominic Solanke give us the lead here at the break at Pride Park.

We've been well on top here since going behind, hopefully a good sign of things to come for the second-half.

See you back here in 15 minutes!

Big chance that!!

Anthony dinks a deep free-kick into the box and Billing leaps to nod it down and back into the centre.

Lerma is there completely unmarked but he's headed it wide from ten-yards.

It whizzed narrowly past the post and that is SO close...

Another devastating moment from our frontmen!

Six different players were involved in a really sharp piece of play that sets Lerma away on the edge of the box and he slips the perfectly weighted pass to Solanke who sprinted beyond him.

The striker was able to prod the ball under Roos and into the net - sending the fans at that end into absolute raptures!

2-1 and on the balance of play, that's probably deserved.

2-1 here!!

A great move...

We play a brilliant team move from on the edge of our own penalty area, with some clever passing from Stacey, Christie and Lerma eventually creating a huge counter attack opportunity.

The lovely pattern of play then gives Billing a bit of room to whip a ball round the corner on the half-way line and we have space on the left!

The ball is in towards Davis who is motoring forward and looks set to go clean through on goal, but unfortunately for us, Curtis Davies reads it so well and gets across to make a crucial interception to stop Davis getting into the area one on one.

Better from us and a briliant sweeping move!

It was a lovely finish from Anthony to draw us level!

Half an hour played...

It's got a little bit more scrappy now, and that's reflecting in the stands with the home support trying to rally their team.

We haven't changed anything since we went level, we're still playing our usual way, patiently trying to prise an opening.

Both Scott Parker and Matt Wells are on the touchline barking instructions as we look to get another opening - we haven't had a clear chance since the goal.

Love it lads - keep going!

Skipper for the day!

Again Davis is having a huge impact!

He sprints around Anthony on the overlap and gets a great ball into the box in towards Solanke!

It's just an inch away from the striker and Roos is there to smother it.

Much better from us and the fans are getting on the home team's back now we've got the leveller and in the manner we got it too!

Derby make a change...

Sam Baldock makes way for the Rams and Colin Kazim Richards comes on.

I think Baldock is injured as he has gone straight down the tunnel, so a straight swap up top for Derby.

Kelle Roos in goal for Derby gives a poor ball away and we pounce immediately!

Christie got the ball in the box and had his effort well saved and the rebound fell to Anthony who had a certain goal somehow blocked off the line!

But the ball fell kindly to Anthony again who turned to smash in a left-footed strike and level it up on the volley.

A brilliant finish from the youngster - a real gift from Derby but we've made them pay.

1-1 here!

A decent response to going a goal down...

Davis has been extremely lively as we've mentioned and he combines with Anthony on the left and gets free - sprinting towards the penalty area.

He tries a cute cutback to Billing and it almost reaches the Dane in the area - but a piece of excellent defending was able to thwart us and the Rams clear.

GOAL for Derby.

After having to do some impressive defending, unfortunately we can't clear a corner and Bird's delivery is whipped in with real pace.

Knight is there unmarked to nod in from close range and we're a goal down here.

Good block by Davis...

Derby having a little spell of pressure here.

Buchanan swung in a deep cross to the back-post on the left-hand side and it was Bird on the end of it.

He brought it down really well in the box but Davis had to fling himself in front of the shot to make a crucial block.

Rams having a spell and we're having to do a bit of defending here...

Fans applauding for Brooksy in the seventh again!

First five minutes...

In typical fashion this season, we've had the majority of possession, waiting patiently for an opening and having the better of it.

Nothing really to note at the moment apart from the fact that Leif Davis is looking lively and energetic on the left-hand side.

Goalless and no real chances so far.

Underway here...

In our red and black stripes, we'll attack the end just to the left of where our away fans are housed in this first half.

So many have made the trip for a game that's at 12pm and on Sky, a real credit to them and the team will appreciate that support.

Underway here at a chilly Pride Park!

Don't forget, here's how you can watch today's game!

Our record at Pride Park...

...is not a good one!

We have never, ever, won here - and we've only ever beaten Derby twice in our history out of 11 meetings, both wins coming in the 1980's!

Records are there to be broken though and we've done ALOT of that already this season, so hopefully this is another one we can take today!

Ready to go!

We've done the maths...

Right it's taken us a while in the Derby press box to work this out...

It's 260 days since Lewis Cook last started for the first team and for an ACL injury, that's an incredible recovery process.

That's how long ago our 1-1 draw with Preston was, so much has changed since then!

He's now back in the team at Pride Park and we'll be watching him extremely closely in this one - great to have him back!

Leif Davis in confident mood...

Speaking to afcb.co.uk ahead of the game, Leif Davis has good memories of playing at Derby.

With Leeds, Davis had become a Championship winner and their celebrations were at Pride Park - bitter rivals particularly at the time with 'spygate'.

Fast forward to the present day and he's keen to build on his performance against Swansea City.

“I think I’m in a good position, I feel fit, I feel raring to go again. It was good to get the game in against Swansea, I needed it for myself, and it was good to get out with the team and get a great result. We’re just looking forward to the next one.

“With the lads doing so well, it was always going to be tough to get into team and Jordan [Zemura] has done so well. It’s a shame he’s picked up the injury but now it’s time for me to take up the opportunity and get going.”

Derby's team for this afternoon...

It's a chilly one here!

Team news!

The headline news is that Lewis Cook starts for the first time since March and his recovery from a serious knee injury.

That's absolutely fantastic news and the competition for places in midfield is excellent!

The manager confirmed that Lloyd Kelly has picked up a slight injury, so Chris Mepham deputises after a solid international break with Wales.

Elsewhere, Steve Cook returns to the bench and Nathan Moriah-Welsh is also amongst the substitutes.

The squad are in the building!

The full team news is 15 minutes away, we're in the tunnel ready for the teamsheet exchange between the teams here at Pride Park.

Dressing room all set!

Our away form…

Has been nothing short of unbelievable, particularly with the relentlessness of the schedule in the Championship.

We are unbeaten away from home this campaign and the last time we conceded away from Vitality Stadium was all the way back in August, when Scott McKenna scored for Nottingham Forest in our 2-1 win.

That’s a quite incredible run of games without conceding – the season is long and there’s still plenty of football to be played but it’s still a very encouraging stat to say the least!

A few thoughts for Derby…

Having been in administration ourselves, we know that it’s a really tough experience to say the least not just for the players and first-team coaches, but for the club staff as well.

Five days ago they were hit with a nine point penalty for breaches of profitability and sustainability rules, with the latest hit meaning the Rams sit on -3 points from their opening 17 fixtures.

That means they’re 18 points adrift of safety – but that could make them an entirely different animal this afternoon with no pressure on them in front of their home crowd.

It could be a really interesting dynamic in the stadium this afternoon.

Good morning!

It is FREEZING here in the East Midlands but hopefully the Cherries can warm us up with some more scintillating football at 12pm.
