Commentary By

Our first defeat of the season.

A disappointing evening at Vitality Stadium as the Cherries lose to Preston North End.

Goal kick to Preston

Billing heads the ball harmlessly behind. A chance for Preston to run the clock down now.

Headed away

Another corner

Travers up again!

Travers is up!

Cahill has gone up top

We're trying everything we can!

Six minutes added on

That'll get the fans going as we have six minutes to get an equaliser.

Stacey shoots from distance and the goalkeeper again palms it, this time just away from Rogers.

Final Preston change

Ali McCann is replaced by Daniel Johnson.

That should be 2-2.

Jack Stacey fires from distance and forces a save from Iversen. He spills it and Lowe is there to apply the final touch.

But somehow Iversen gets his foot to it and makes the block. A bad miss.

Billing booked

The Dane makes a great challenge on Barkhuizen and the Preston man stays down. Billing is frustrated and tries to pull the visitor to his feet and neither are happy with each other. The referee books them both.

Riis Jakobsen beats Cahill for pace and breaks away in the Cherries half, creating a one-on-one with Travers.

The Cherries man stays big and makes the stop with his feet.

Our second change

GOAL - Preston

The visitors have the lead again as Ali McCann slides home.

Emil Riis Jakobsen races to the left touchline, cuts it back into the box and McCann drives home.

Changes for Preston

The visitors make two changes - Brad Potts and Greg Cunningham replace Sean Maguire and Josh Earl.

Mepham, of all people, almost scores!

He picks up the ball in the visitors half and space opens up for him, allowing him to drive an effort at goal.

It bounces just ahead of Iversen who makes a stop, albeit it almost squirms into the near corner.

Lowe makes a good run on the right and cuts the ball back across the box.

Hughes swings a leg at it and slices it towards goal, just missing the back post.

The change

The first Cherries sub means that Ryan Christie has gone into a midfield role as Jaidon Anthony settles on the left.

Jamal Lowe is continuing on the right as the Cherries continue to push forward with real intensity.

Our first change

Mepham booked

He makes a late challenge as a Preston player crosses into the box and receives our second yellow card.

That's what we needed.

Stacey made a good run on the right and sent a low cross into the box.

Hughes sticks a foot out but only diverts it to Billing, who cuts inside and fires it into the bottom corner.

Lerma booked

The midfielder, who was barged into the advertising hoardings a few minutes ago, puts a tough challenge on McCann and receives a yellow card.

Cherries pressuring

We've only been behind for six minutes all season ahead of today but we need a response here.

We've immediately started to press and have won a series of corners, but Preston defending their box well.

GOAL - Preston

The Cherries are behind.

Ben Whiteman fires home as a cross from the right wasn't cleared. It bounced off Kelly's heel and Whiteman was there to side-foot into the top corner.

That's ridiculous Christie!

The winger has started this second half on the left and sends a beautiful pass into the path of Solanke, who has made a break towards some space in the middle.

Sepp van den Berg did well to recover and deflect it behind. The subsequent corner was cleared.

Back underway

The Cherries get this second half started and Christie tries to pick out Lowe down the left but it's well shepherded out.

Second half not far away

Both teams have returned to the pitch ahead of this second period, doesn't appear to be any changes at the moment.

The first half

There really wasn't a lot to write about in that first half.

We've only had the one shot, Preston with two in fairly quick succession but none on target so far.

With nearly 60% possession, we've looked fairly comfortable on the ball but Preston have dropped into a very deep shape.

Hopefully more to shout about in the second half.

Not a half that will live long in the memory.

One minute added on

Good block Kelly

Play resumes with a Preston corner and Travers gets his fist to it, but the following delivery causes a momentary panic.

A shot manages to be fired towards goal but Kelly is placed perfectly to block it and the Cherries eventually clear.

Definitely Preston's best period of the game so far.

Pearson requires treatment

The midfielder takes a knock in midfield and requires treatment.

Preston continue to press forward and the cross needs Stacey to head behind at the back post.

That allows the medical team to assess Pearson, who looks like he's picked up a knock to the ankle.

After a few moments, he gingerly walks off with the physio and will try to continue.

Christie free-kick collected

Ryan Christie is clipped on the right touchline and the Cherries win a free-kick in a crossing position.

Christie steps up to take but his in-swinging delivery has a tad too much loft and Iversen takes comfortably.

At the other end, Preston have their first chance as they break away down the right.

Barkhuizen gets his shot off but drills it wide of Travers' near post.

Pearson gets a talking to

The former Preston man clips Alan Browne in the middle of the park and receives a ticking off by the official.

Working hard!

Clever from Lerma

The Colombian receives the ball at the edge of the box and flicks it on, giving Solanke something to chase down.

It momentarily looks like he might beat the defender to the ball but the visiting player does well to make the clearance.

Nice play though and almost fashioned a shooting opportunity.

What has been exceptional so far is our pressure when we lose the ball, we're chasing it down very quickly and getting our tackles in. Preston haven't been able to put a move together yet.

Preston proving frustrating

There's really not much to report so far.

The Cherries have had 66% possession which is perhaps an indication of how comfortable they've been in terms of keeping hold of the ball, but the only shot remains Billing's free-kick.

Preston's first foray into the box is a long throw from the left but Kelly gets his to it, as well as the following cross, and the Cherries force the visitors back to the goalkeeper.

Patient Cherries

It's been a dominant start for the Cherries in terms of holding possession but yet to create much so far.

Preston have a very straight five-man backline and are doing well to keep Bournemouth from getting in behind so far, albeit there are plenty of balls and runs being made.

The Cherries win a free-kick as Solanke is fouled at the edge of the box. It's an awkward angle for Billing as it's close to the left corner, but he aims for goal anyway.

His effort is well-struck but curling away from the far corner and Iversen watches it wide. Decent go though.

Good defending

The first time the Cherries have got in behind!

Ryan Christie plays a nice pass beyond the left-back into the path of Jack Stacey.

He looks to drill a cross towards the near post, where Solanke has made a darting run, but a Preston defender does well to divert it behind.

Meanwhile, the supporters join together to chant David Brooks' name.

Mepham starts at left-back

It's been a fairly confident start for the Cherries as they get hold of the ball early and keep possession well.

Chris Mepham is starting at left-back and has looked capable early on. He made a short advance forward before finding Jamal Lowe, and also won a booming header from Iversen's long kick.

No chance of note as of yet.

We're underway!

Preston North End get the game underway, at the second attempt, and the Cherries immediately win a throw on the right.

Here they come!

The two teams make their way to the pitch, the reception for the Cherries lads is excellent!

The lights take a moment to come back on following the light show but eventually do so, earning a cheer from the crowd.

Five minutes away!

Warm-ups are done here at Vitality Stadium and we're only a matter of minutes away from kick-off.

The lights display is back as the atmosphere builds!

Kick-off fast approaching

Here's how Preston line-up!

Here's how we line-up this evening...

Chris Mepham, Jamal Lowe and Ben Pearson are in for Jordan Zemura, Gavin Kilkenny and Jaidon Anthony.

On the bench, Will Dennis comes in for Orjan Nyland and Robbie Brady makes his first appearance on the bench.

It's matchday at Vitality Stadium as the Cherries take on Preston North End.

Scott Parker's side will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to 16 matches.
