FULL TIME

Well a point is probably fair, but with Callum Wilson's late miss we could've had an historic won.

But nonetheless, the England frontman scored twice and Dan Gosling got the other in a pulsating game at St Mary's.

Thanks for following, we'll bring you all the reaction after a topsy-turvy game to say the least!

90'

Southampton keeping the ball in the corner...

Holding onto a point now. It's such a bizarre game how many times it has swung in each teams favour!
90'

FIVE minutes added time...

We're on top. Can we get a winner!?

88'

SHOULD BE 4-3!!!!

WILSON GOES THROUGH ONE ON ONE FOR HIS HAT TRICK!!!!

He has time and the whole goal to aim at but his shot is central and straight at Gunn!

WHAT A CHANCE!!

86'

LOVE IT!!!!

We win the ball really well and King goes on a trademark run!

He slips the ball to Fraser in the area and his low cross is bundled in by Wilson in the middle!

No celebrations whatsoever, get the ball and go again!

Come on!

86'

GOALLLLL

WILSON AGAIN!

3-3!!!!

82'

Just wide from King...

30-yards out after swivelling past his man, King unleashes a venomous drive which flies just wide past the post.

Keep going lads!!

75'

15 minutes to go...

Hopefully some late nerves will help us, but we don't look like creating at the minute.

Hopefully that will change of course, but we haven't looked as threatening in this second half.

72'

Our final sub...

Nathaniel Clyne makes way for Dominic Solanke.

So that means Fraser will go to right back and a front three of Solanke, King and Wilson. That's a mouthwatering prospect, hopefully better attacking threat to come!

68'

We have been under pressure and there's the goal...

Valery got the ball down the right-hand side and swung in a high cross towards the back post.

It looked hopeful until Targett emerged and squeezed it past Cook who was on the line.

3-2 to the home side.

67'

GOAL for Southampton.

Substitute Matt Targett heads in at the back post.
62'

All Southampton now...

Much like the start to the game, we can't quite get out and Saints are having plenty of the ball, winning corners and putting us under real pressure.

Hopefully we can weather the storm here.

57'

Big chance for Southampton...

A long ball forward is met by Ings and he tries to flick it past Boruc first time unmarked in the area, but the Polish stopper reads it well and catches the attempt.

That's a decent opening for them though...

54'

He smashes the equaliser in...

It may have been a foul on David Brooks, as he went down after a tackle by Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, but Ward-Prowse smashes a low left footer in from the edge of the box in the aftermath to draw Saints level.

It's a really good finish unfortunately for us, hopefully we remain strong after that.

54'

GOAL for Southampton.

James Ward-Prowse scores.

53'

Second sub confirmed...

Gosling cannot continue, he's injured.

Yet ANOTHER injury for us! Emerson Hyndman makes his first Premier League appearance of the season to come on for us.

52'

Side netting!

Simpson!

A great corner from Fraser is met at the near stick by the academy graduate, who hits the side netting!

Close!!

52'

Two potential changes for us...

We've got Jordon Ibe and Emerson Hyndman stripped and ready to go here, both could be coming on soon as Gosling had gone down injured.

We'll keep you posted, but as we type, King's low drive is well blocked.

46'

Back underway...

We'll attack towards our travelling fans in this second half!

One change at the break and that's for Saints, who bring on Matt Targett coming on for Romeu.

HT

HALF TIME

Well, that was a pretty mental half!

We went behind and Saints were really pushing, before one of the team goals of the season from Dan Gosling drew us level.

From that point we didn't look back, with Callum Wilson then smashing in his 13th goal of the season.

A big second half ahead, see you in 15 minutes!

45'

Three minutes of added time...

We're still on top and the Saints fans are getting on their team's back.

Gosling has just been booked for clearly blocking Ing's run inside their half as well.

39'

Penalty appeal waved away!!!

King does so well!

He completely bullies Bednarek, and then Yan Valery absolutely wipes out King clumsily!

Not sure on the referees view, but it looked like it could've been given!

37'

Gosling loving it!

38'

Wilson and Fraser causing havoc!

Their speedy running in behind is causing problems.

The Southampton defenders don't know which man to pick up, then that gives space to King on the left-hand side as a result.

Our fans are on cloud nine at the moment to our right, but we do need another goal to make things a bit more clear cut.

35'

Love it!

35'

A very naughty tackle!

Long shows his frustration!

He's skinned by Brooks and he just boots Brooksy up in the air.

Clear yellow all day, poor poor tackle.

33'

AHEAD!!!!!!

GET IN THERE!!!

Brooks' long-range strike causes havoc!!

It's parried and then Wilson is there to smash in the rebound! Love it, 2-1 up!!!

32'

YESSSSSSSSS!!!!!

WILSON!!!!!!!! 2-1!

30'

Now we are all over Southampton!

There's panic in the stands are we've had a few half chances!

They can't deal with Brooks and Fraser's movement at the moment, hopefully there's a goal to show for it soon.

28'

Good chance!

We're pressing now!

A superb pass by Brooks gets King in one on one and it's only an absolute last ditch tackle by Jan Bednarek saves the day for Southampton.

This is absolutely breathless stuff here, you can't take your eyes off this one!

26'

First booking...

And of course, it's for a late foul on Fraser.

He gets absolutely clattered by Oriol Romeu - bad tackle definite yellow.

I'm struggling to type here this game has evolved into an absolute madness!

24'

Saints should score...

Honestly, one of the misses of the century.

Shane Long goes through one on one after a good tackle by Lerma, before Boruc saves!

The rebound falls to him literally six-yards out, all the goal to aim for, and he hits the post.

No one in the press box can believe he's missed, we should be 2-1 down and it's just unbelievable that he has missed.

So lucky for us!

23'

The sub goes through!

Chris Mepham makes way for Fraser.

That means Simpson will play at centre-half, Ake at left back and we're back to 4-4-2.

22'

Something you won't see on Match of the Day....

.... is that Eddie was gesturing for Wee Man to get ready and come on ALREADY!

I'd already typed out that Wee Man was coming on before that goal!

21'

FROM OUT OF NOTHING!!!!!

WHAT A SUPERB TEAM GOAL!

IT STARTED FROM SAINTS' ATTACK! Lerma played the ball right in the six-yard box to King and he drove high from deep!

He played the ball to Wilson who had peeled away and he pierced a superb pass into Gosling's path and he drove into the area!

He smashed a low one and it's a magnificent team goal!

One to watch later on afcbTV - what a response!!

20'

GOALLLLLLLLLLLL!

YESSSSSS WHAT A GOAL GOSLING!!!!!!!

18'

Chance for Saints...

We are really shooting ourselves in the foot here, giving the ball away.

This time a stray pass goes to Redmond who 20-yards out, curls an effort just past the post.

We aren't keeping the ball well here.

15'

A slight tactical tweak...

It now looks like we've gone to a flat back four, with Ake now playing in front of the back four as a holding midfield player.

It's still a front three of Brooks, King and Wilson though.

14'

A stat so we don't panic...

Saints have dropped 25 points from winning positions this season, the worst record in the Premier League.

So, hopefully this means a comeback is on...

12'

We're behind here...

Redmond has been causing us all kinds of problems and he gets the ball on the left this time.

He crosses low for Long in the middle who hits a low trickling effort, but it goes through Ake's legs and into the bottom corner.

Not the start we had in mind, but probably deserved.

12'

GOAL for Southampton.

It has been coming.

Shane Long scores.

10'

Save by Boruc...

Great chance for Southampton.

Danny Ings was allowed to drive at the heart of our defence before slipping a pass through for Redmond who made a really late run!

He's one on one but Artur Boruc does so well, he doesn't race all the way out but enough to limit Redmond's angle, as a result of that he makes a top save with his feet!

10'

We've rode the early storm...

After a few waves of Southampton attack early on, we have settled and are having more of the ball.

Whenever Lerma or Dan Gosling in the middle get the ball, they're looking to get King in down the left-hand side quickly.

But we've calmed down now and look more composed.

04'

We are under the cosh...

The players have thrown their bodies at the ball to block shots, and Jefferson Lerma has had to clear from under his own goal after an attempt by Jan Bednarek.

All Southampton so far unfortunately, but we are defending like our lives are on the line!

2'

Great block by Mepham...

Some possession on the edge of the box results in Danny Ings slipping a ball in behind for Nathan Redmond.

Inside the box, he drills a low one but Mepham makes an inch perfect sliding tackle to block. Absolutely superb.

01'

We are underway...

Just to clarify a few selection things...

So Jack Simpson is at left-back, with Joshua King on the left wing.

It is five at the back as we expected, with Nathan Ake, Steve Cook and Chris Mepham at the heart of the defence.

The fans to our right are well up for this, let's get a result for them!

`

Come on lads!

Both teams walk out the tunnel to a great atmosphere from both sets of fans.

Big expectations on this one!

We're in our 'beach glass' kit (I call it mint which is off brand) but we're nearly set to go.

14:48

The lads are all warmed up!

They're back in the dressing room now - so here's your 15 minute warning!

Or you can follow these text updates, which hopefully are just as good!!

14:35

Head to head record...

As the lads are deep into their warm up, we're looking at the head to head standings... and they're not good!

We have never won away against Southampton in 14 tries as we mentioned earlier, drawing five and losing nine.

We've only beaten Saints once in the past 11 games, and that was three years ago in our first Premier League season when Steve Cook and Benik Afobe scored at Vitality Stadium.

Hopefully a change in our fortunes to come!

14:29

The manager is next up...

...and he confirms that Wee Man is injured.

"Ryan picked up a calf problem in training yesterday so we’re trying to protect him today.

“We’re frustrated at our lack of consistency. It’s been too up and down but hopefully the good side of us turns up today.”

Come on boys!

14:20

Watch our for that sprinkler boys!

14:18

Gareth Southgate is in the building!

We've just spotted him!

We think the last game of ours he watched was our away win at Huiddersfield, hopefully the Southgate winning run continues again on the road!

One to watch...

Adam Leitch has highlighted Premier League record-breaker Shane Long as the man the Cherries have to keep an eye on this afternoon.

"At the moment their dangerman is Shane Long," he said.

"He is their in-from striker with three goals in his past four games.

"And his last one after 7.69 seconds at Watford was something quite incredible."

Long's three goals in his past four are as many as he had in his previous 60 games, but he could score in three successive home games in the Premier League for the first time.

14:00

Team news is in!

Jack Simpson makes his second Premier League start of the season, and we think he'll play at left back.

Nathaniel Clyne returns at right back, with Ryan Fraser on the bench - we guess that's due to injury.

We think we'll play five at the back, but we'll be able to get clarification soon hopefully!

13:42

Did you know?

At home, Southampton are on a big scoring run.

They have found the back of the net in 12 successive home league matches, and that is only currently bettered by Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool.

That's quite a good stat to be up there with that company, so we'll have to be on our guard today it goes without saying!

13:37

Pre-match interview...

Nathan Ake is our player this week, as ever it's compulsory that the Premier League or host broadcaster speak to a player and the manager before kick-off.

Always cool, calm and collected, even off the pitch is our centre-half.

He is desperate to win today, saying: “We will be looking to put in a performance like we did at Brighton a fortnight ago. We want to end this season on a high.”

13:18

Well said, Mr Chairman!

13:12

Club history could be made today...

Not only have we never won away against Southampton in 14 games, but a new Premier League record could tumble today.

One more win this season would establish a new club record of 13 victories in a top flight campaign.

What a place it would be to do it as well!

13:06

Will the first goal be crucial today?

Well, if Saints get it we shouldn't panic.

They have dropped 25 points from winning positions this season, the worst record in the entire Premier League.

We obviously don't want to go behind, but that's something to bear in mind here this afternoon!

12:55

Expert opinion...

Well, speaking with Southern Daily Echo chief football writer Adam Leitch, he feels that manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has revitalised the feel around the club.

"It was a poor start for Saints and hopes were certainly not high as they battled for survival," he said.

"The appointment of Ralph Hasenhüttl has certainly lifted the club, both on and off the pitch, and now people are again looking forward with optimism.

"He has had a galvanizing effect on the squad, the fans and the club as a whole and things are much brighter at St Mary’s than they have been for a long time."

Hopefully that doesn't have an impact today!

12:47

On to today...

We're getting team news straight from the away dressing room at 2pm.

We're struggling for full backs, with managed Eddie Howe confirming that Adam Smith will miss this game.

That means we could be without a right-back as Nathaniel Clyne missed last week's game, but without Charlie Daniels and Diego Rico as well, there will be an unorthodox left-back in place.

Junior Stanislas is also out for three to four months which is a big blow, so we're down to the bare bones for this one!

12:42

A quick plug...

Not watched it yet?

You're missing out - Cherries fan or not head over to afcbTV and watch Minus17 before kick-off, it's completely FREE!

We had a great night at the premiere on Wednesday and Eddie Howe said while he was there he is so determined to get a result for the fans this afternoon.

We won't mention it again though we promise!

12:37

Welcome...

A big one for us here, no matter what people say, geographically we're calling it a derby!

Welcome to St Mary's - we've been remembering the club's desperate situation from ten years ago this week, but what a chance to make history today with a good result against Southampton.

It's deceptively cold here, I thought it was April!!

We'll keep you updated with everything from the game, you won't miss a single moment if you follow us here.
