The official verdict as AFC Bournemouth register pre-season victory over Yeovil at Huish Park.

The former Arsenal and Wolves man struck either side of half-time at Huish Park, to add to a Lys Mousset effort, as the Cherries saw off their League Two opponents with relative ease.

Eddie Howe’s side suffered a scare early on, however, when having dominated the opening exchanges, they conceded to a Keston Davies header.

But they hit back soon after through Mousset’s chipped finish, and Afobe edged the visitors in front before the break.

He then tucked home Marc Pugh’s delivery early in the second period and that’s how it stayed, as AFC Bournemouth recorded their fourth victory of pre-season.

In difficult conditions, following heavy rainfall all day, the Cherries made a bright start in Somerset and created the first opening of the game inside five minutes.

Pugh picked up a loose ball 20 yards out, steadied himself and let fly with a low shot, but Glovers keeper Artur Krysiak was equal to it, turning it behind.

From the resulting corner, Nathan Ake bundled an effort wide, shortly before full-back Brad Smith’s deep cross almost snuck in.

It was one-way traffic and when Ryan Fraser released Mousset in behind the home defence, only a fine save from the legs of Krysiak prevented the Frenchman from breaking the deadlock.

However, completely against the run of play, Yeovil went ahead in the 15th minute.

Ryan Dickson swung in a corner from the left and Davies out-muscled his marker to thump home a header.

AFC Bournemouth attempted an immediate response, with Brad Smith and Mousset both threatening.

Surman then drew another good save from Krysiak just before the half-hour mark, with a first-time shot from distance, while Pugh connected with a free-kick but could only nod into the side netting.

But in the 30th minute the visitors finally got their goal and drew level thanks to Mousset clever finish.

Fraser was the provider once more, with an inch-perfect pass, and Mousset dinked the ball over the on-rushing Krysiak and past the desperate lunge of a defender on the line.

It was no more than the Cherries deserved and less than five minutes later they had their noses back in front.

It stemmed from a right-wing corner, delivered by Fraser, which was met by the unmarked Ake right in the heart of the penalty area.

Although his header was saved by Krysiak, the stopper couldn’t keep hold of it, and Afobe was on hand to pounce from a couple of yards.

Mousset could have had his second – and the visitors’ third – of the night just before half-time when he held off the attentions of two challenges but crashed a drive against the post.

But that arrived soon after the restart through strike partner Afobe.

Mousset was involved, playing a lovely back-heel into the path of Pugh, whose low cross was turned home by the big front man.

AFC Bournemouth weren’t done there, though, and went in search of goal number four.

Right-back Adam Smith sent a brilliant cross through the heart of the six-yard box, while Mousset continued to probe for another strike to add to his tally.

But the Cherries had to settle for three on another productive pre-season outing ahead of the start of the 2017/18 campaign.
