Full time at Fratton Park

A 2-1 win for AFC Bournemouth!

Mousset and Afobe with the goals for the Cherries, sandwiching Chaplin's Pompey effort.

Open and entertaining game at Fratton Park, good fitness builder as well for the Bournemouth players.

90 MINS: Gosling, just wide

Good Cherries attack, Pugh finds King who in turn finds the feet of Defoe, great feet from the new signing and he passes to Gosling, closed down quickly his shot loops wide thanks to a deflection.

88 MINS: Burgess close for Pompey

A Portsmouth corner and at the far post Burgess heads towards goal, but just wide. The Bournemouth lead remains intact, 2-1.

86 MINS: Closing stages

Into the final few minutes and the pace has slowed down slightly, King playing off Defoe in attack but the two of them have had few opportunities to show their skill since coming on.

82 MINS: Portsmouth hit the post!

Bennett feeds Chaplin and the front man is in the clear, in on goal but with an angle to contend with. Chaplin strikes across goal, low but off the foot of the far post. Cherries survive.

78 MINS: Clash of heads

Federici launches clear and as King and Davies battle for the aerial ball their heads bash together. Both physios quickly on and happily the two players are soon to their feet and ready to play on.

Cherries continue to lead 2-1.

77 MINS: Cherries building from the back

The home fans have quietened down following their side's good spell.

Now it's the Cherries starting from defence and patiently playing the ball forwards towards the attack, Ibe often an outlet.

73 MINS: Nice threads

Ake finds Worthington's good forward run and as he turns Defoe is on the shoulder and hunting for a through ball. It soon comes, but defender Clarke is able to just about cut it out and the hosts can clear.

69 MINS: Attendance news

The gate at Fratton Park today is 7,182, and of that number 988 are Cherries fans. Thanks for your support!

A reminder that the second half kicked off 15 minutes late due to a Portsmouth fan receiving urgent medical treatment in the stands.

64 MINS: Pompey looking lively

A couple of Portsmouth crosses in, well fielded by Francis.

This game has plenty of legs in it yet, Bennett often on the ball and looking to make things happen for the hosts.

58 MINS: Changes, changes, changes

Eight simultaneous changes here for the Cherries, notepads at the ready...

On come: Federici, Ake, Pugh, Gosling, Lewis Cook, Ibe, King and Defoe.

That means that, Begovic, Surman, Arter, Afobe, Gradel, Fraser, Mousset and Cargill are now off.

And relax.

We're back under way again.

GOAL! 54 MINS: Cherries lead again!

The Cherries are back in front, Afobe scores!

Francis took the ball to the byline, cut back for Fraser, his shot was rolling towards goal but the alert Afobe was in its path and with a back-heeled finish diverted past McGee and Bournemouth lead once more, 2-1!

53 MINS: Chances coming thick and fast

Within 60 seconds the Cherries come within a whisker of re-establishing their lead.

Mousset shoots, top save from McGee who tips over.

GOAL! 52 MINS: Portsmouth level

This time Pompey are level, Chaplin nets for the hosts.

The young striker found space and had just Begovic to beat, a neat finish over the advancing Cherries 'keeper and it's all-square here at Fratton Park, 1-1.

49 MINS: Begovic, great save!

There's a roar as the ball is played through to Pitman, we all know how sharp he is and the former Cherries man ploughs in a shot that Begovic does really well to push behind.

46 MINS: Second half up and running

Kick off and the match is back under way at Fratton Park. Mousset's eight-minute strikes separates the sides.

Half-time changes

Just the two Cherries substitutions at the break, Worthington replaces Steve Cook, a move which sees Francis switch to the centre of defence, with the oncoming Worthington lining up at right-back.

On the other side, Daniels replaces Mings at left-back.

Second half soon

We're almost set to get started for the second half here now, the Cherries players are having a quick re-warm up.

The Portsmouth fan was applauded by all supporters as he was stretchered from the ground by the medical team. We hope the supporter's condition is soon better.

second half delay

There's a delay to the start of the second period at Fratton Park.

A Portsmouth fan appears to be receiving CPR in the stand from medics, we wish him all the best.

HALF TIME: Portsmouth 0-1 AFC Bournemouth

Mousset's early goal separates the sides. Open game, the better chances falling to the Cherries, while Portsmouth have been more restricted to long-range efforts.

43 MINS: Gradel on target, McGee saves

Gradel's had a few half chances in this half, and he has another there. He drills low from 21 yards among a crowd, McGee always behind it and the 'keeper gathers in the centre of his goal.

42 MINS: Arter the spoiler

Every time the Pompey get the ball in midfield Arter's there to track down, break up play and win things back.

39 MINS: Baker whistles wide

Portsmouth break and Baker takes aim from range, it has Begovic worried but in the end goes wide of the post - he'll say he had it covered!

38 MINS: Cherries looking to double up

Bournemouth ending the half on the attack.

Gradel rounds one man as he enters the box, but Burgess recovers well and prods behind for a Cherries corner, which is cleared.

34 MINS: Afobe... Not quite!

Top link-up play as Mousset threads the ball between the centre-backs to Afobe. He gets his sliding shot away first time, McGee gets a hand to take the pace out of it and as it bounces towards the net a Pompey defender hooks off the line.

Still 1-0 to the Cherries.

29 MINS: Bennett causing danger

Pompey talisman Bennett looking good on the ball, a jink gets him past defenders into the box and he goes for a deft chip - well over Begovic's bar.

Good contest here at Fratton Park.

26 MINS: Mousset close again

Mousset again causes danger, sidesteps 17 yards from goal and fires low, Pompey 'keeper McGee at full stretch but the ball zips a foot wide of his post.

25 MINS: Mousset and Max

The two attackers link well on the edge of the box, Mousset turns inside and looks to reconnect with the Ivorian, but the ball is intercepted.

Mousset had more space than he thought there.

22 MINS: Pompey pressure

The hosts are pushing forwards now and former Cherries striker Pitman turns and opens room for himself to shoot from 20 yards, half blocked by Mings and Begovic is able to defuse the situation.

18 MINS: Cherries stable

Leading 1-0 and the Cherries have only had a couple of off-target long range Pompey efforts to fear since taking the lead.

Afobe close to a second then as he's in space in the area, but he drags his shot across goal and wide.

GOAL! 8 MINS: Mousset scores, Cherries lead!

That's 1-0 to Bournemouth!

A good open start and not long after Chaplin had gone close for Pompey the Cherries incisively take the lead.

Afobe gets to the goal line, rolls back to Mousset and the Frenchman assuredly slams the ball home.

1 MIN: Away we go!

Benik Afobe and Max Gradel get the ball rolling on halfway and we're up and running at Fratton Park.

Cherries decked out in their splendid new red and black Umbro home kit, Pompey in blue-white-red.

3:00pm: Remembering Bradley Lowery

Ahead of kick off the two teams stand around the centre circle to join the fans in a minute of applause for football fan Bradley Lowery.

2:58pm: The players stride out of the tunnel

The two sets of teams are out at Fratton Park.

There's good news in the stands as well, chairman Jeff Mostyn is here and looks well after his recent heart procedure.

2:20pm Players out for warm up

The Cherries players are out on the turf at Fratton Park, going through their warm ups.

The weather is wet, rainy and shows few signs of cheering up anytime soon.

2pm Teams announced

The Cherries' starting XI is out and Begovic is set to pull on his new Bournemouth kit for the first time since signing permanently for the club over the summer.

Expect plenty of changes at half time, with the likes of Nathan Ake, Jermain Defoe and Joshua King all included in the matchday squad.
