Our record at St. Andrews...
Our last game against Birmingham City at St Andrew’s came in the Emirates FA Cup third round of 2015/16.
Lee Tomlin scored a penalty to equalise Michael Morrison’s header, but Glenn Murray bundled in five minutes from time to secure the win.
Of the last three trips to face the Blues, the Cherries have scored 14 goals, including one particularly memorable result…
Ready
A big night?
For this man?
Lewis Cook has a great opportunity to prove himself as he starts after missing out on the last two Cherries' squads.
Cook will start alongside Dan Gosling in midfield, who will also be looking to stake a claim.
Tonight...
There will be 18 second-round EFL Cup ties.
The other Premier League clubs in action tonight are Palace, West Brom, Brighton, Swansea, Leicester & Watford are in action.
If we qualify, the draw for the third round will take place at 4.15am on Thursday morning... Not sure many of us will be awake to see who we get should we win!
The dressing room is ready...
Despite the eight changes, it's a strong side picked by Eddie Howe this evening.
Here's a sneak inside the St. Andrew's away dressing room and our subs' gear is laid out ready.
One to watch...
Birmingham City signed striker Isaac Vassell for an undisclosed fee from League Two side Luton Town earlier this month.
The striker has risen through the leagues and will be eager to impress against the Cherries this evening.
The 23-year-old has played twice for the Blues without scoring, but also played twice for Luton and scored twice this season.
We can expect them to field a slightly different side, as a trio of loanees have all arrived over the last two days.
Yesterday, they confirmed that Carl Jenkinson and Cohen Bramall had both joined temporarily from Arsenal.
A lot has has been made of the Bramall's meteoric rise as he left minnows Hednesford Town for the Gunners back in January.
Today, the club confirmed that Southampton striker Sam Gallagher has also penned a loan deal at St. Andrew's.
A trio of old faces...
Tonight sees the club reunited with three old managers, who are all in the opposition dugout against us!
Harry Redknapp is the Blues’ manager, while Kevin Bond and Paul Groves work alongside him in the St Andrew’s coaching staff.
Bond gave Eddie Howe his first coaching role, and Eddie said of him: “Kevin saw something in me and I am really grateful for that. When I look back and see that show of faith, that really changed my life.”
Strong words! A warm welcome I'm sure from them this evening.
Tim is expecting us to squeeze through on penalties...
The boss confirmed yesterday that Jermain Defoe will start and there will be changes from the Watford defeat.
Eddie Howe has used the cup as an avenue for his squad players to impress and tonight will be no different.
Team news is just over 15 minutes away!
