A dazzling double from Kian Tydeman ensured the Cherries responded to seal a 2-1 victory at Charlton and move into the top two of the Professional Development League.

The attacking midfielder netted twice in the second half to confirm Alan Connell’s men got back to winning ways.

Success meant they leapfrogged Queens Park Rangers in the table. The Cherries are in second spot, with 42 points from 24 league outings.

The visitors started the contest brightly at Sparrows Lane. A short corner routine between Lewis Brown and Dom Sadi saw the latter’s cross parried away by home keeper Prince Adegoke.

Ash Clarke then broke the Addicks’ offside trap but failed to keep down his effort from an acute angle. Toure Williams fired over the top shortly after

But it was Charlton who opened the scoring on 23 minutes. Ryan Huke won possession on the edge of the box before teeing up skipper Keenan Gough to send the ball into the bottom corner.

The hosts thought they had a second just seven minutes later. Ibrahim Fullah’s cross from the right was glanced in by Huke but he was flagged offside.

Brown then drilled a fizzing effort at goal which deflected just wide, as the visitors looked to find a way back into the contest.

Midfielder Brown was instrumental in the move that made it 1-1 six minutes after the break. His precise pass picked out the run of Finn Tonks, who had advanced from right-back.

Tonks’s cross was perfect for Tydeman to convert at the back post and level up the game.

And the Cherries were not done there. After Balraj Landa’s whipped effort was not gathered by the home keeper, Tydeman was alert to slot home with a deft finish.

Charlton looked to respond when Tolu Ladapo crossed from the right to find Pat Casey, who blazed over the bar.

But the Cherries saw out the contest to record their 13th victory in the league this season.
