Daniel Adu-Adjei’s clinical hat-trick helped AFC Bournemouth stretch their unbeaten run to eight games in all competitions thanks to a thrilling 4-3 win over Swansea City.

Adu-Adjei’s exploits, coupled with a well-taken goal from Michael Dacosta Gonzalez, also saw the Cherries make it five victories on the trot in the Professional Development League.

An absorbing seven-goal thriller was settled in favour of Alan Connell’s in-form team by Adu-Adjei’s second-half header after the Swans had battled back from 3-1 down to make it 3-3.

Adu-Adjei drew first blood for the Cherries with his eighth goal of the season after 11 minutes, only for the Swans to level through Kyrell Wilson four minutes later.

Dacosta Gonzalez restored the hosts’ lead with finely-taken second on 20 minutes and Adu-Adjei’s confidently-converted penalty made it 3-1 eight minutes before the break.

However, the Swans drew level thanks to quickfire goals early in the second half through Kristian Fletcher and Wilson’s second.

But Adu-Adjei had the final say when he completed his hat-trick with a header from a Dacosta Gonzalez cross in the 58th minute.

Dacosta Gonzalez created the first shooting chance after fastening on to a pass from Toure Williams, only to see his effort charged down by a defender.

The Cherries opened the scoring when Adu-Adjei arrived at the far post to plant a firm header past Swans goalkeeper Evan Watts from Ben Greenwood’s 11th-minute corner.

However, the lead was short lived as the visitors levelled just four minutes later when Kyrell Wilson scored from close range after a Liam Smith corner had fallen for him.

Another dangerous corner from Greenwood eventually landed at the feet of Williams but again a defender was in the right place to block the midfielder’s shot.

The Cherries regained the lead when Dacosta Gonzalez found the bottom corner with a blistering left-foot strike from 20 yards following excellent build-up play in the 20th minute.

Cameron Plain pulled off a fine save to prevent the Swans from levelling for a second time, the Cherries goalkeeper racing off his line and keeping out Wilson’s clipped effort.

Plain then punched clear a free-kick from Smith before a long-range shot from Mitchell Bates was charged down by Cherries skipper Max Kinsey.

Adu-Adjei added his second and the Cherries’ third when he sent Watts the wrong way from the spot after Noa Boutin had been bundled over by Swans captain Filip Lissah.

The striker brought up his ninth goal of the season in emphatic fashion, Adu-Adjei sweeping the ball into the bottom corner with his 37th-minute penalty.

Kristian Fletcher saw his shot deflected over the crossbar, while Plain got down smartly to push Lissah’s header past the post on the stroke of half-time.

The Swans reduced the arrears when Fletcher latched on to Wilson’s pass, rounded Plain and rolled the ball into an unguarded net in the first minute of the second half.

And the Cherries were indebted to their goalkeeper for beating away two efforts from Wilson in quick succession as the Welsh outfit started the second period in lively fashion.

Watts smothered after Adu-Adjei had taken aim from the edge of the box before the Swans levelled when Wilson drilled home his second and their third seven minutes into the second half.

The Cherries again seized the initiative as an end-to-end second period continued when Adu-Adjei completed his hat-trick – and the scoring – in the 58th minute.

Adu-Adjei outjumped his marker at the far post to apply a looping header to a Dacosta Gonzalez cross which bounced over the line, despite the best efforts of a defender to clear.
