See below for information on our Women's and Girls' set-up, and how to get you, friends or family involved.
Women's teams:
We’re proud to have two AFC Bournemouth Women’s teams competing locally.
Both the first team and the development squad, which was introduced in the 2015/16 season, play in the Southern Region Women’s Football League.
18 players who are currently involved in the senior sides have progressed through the girls’ youth programme, including eight current first team squad members.
Steve Cuss’ side also reached the FA Cup first round proper for just the second time in the club’s history this season, having to overcome five qualifiers in the process.
Girls' teams:
Aside from the senior squads, we also have youth teams competing at under-11, under-12, under-14 and under-16 age groups.
These have been running via our Community Sports Trust since the 2016/17 season, with all players receiving the current AFC Bournemouth training kit and home kit for matches when selected for a side.
There is a trials process once a year and this takes place during the off-season in June.
Under-11s
The 2020/21 season is the first year that we’ve had an under-11s side and they play in the Hampshire Girls Youth Football League.
The matches that are played are non-competitive, but there is a League Cup competition which takes place every season and is played in a knock-out format.
Under-12s
The under-12s also play in the Hampshire Girls Youth Football League, but the matches are competitive.
Aside from league action, they reached the Hampshire Cup final last season but, like all teams, have had a disrupted 2020/21 campaign due to Covid-19 restrictions.
Under-14s
The under-14s play in the Junior Premier League and are the reigning Hampshire Cup champions for their age group.
They’ve won the competition three times since first entering it in the 2016/17 season.
Under-16s
The under-16s also play their football in the Junior Premier League and have won the Hampshire Cup for the last three seasons.
Additionally, two of last year’s under-16s were selected to play for the England Schools’ FA team.
How to get involved:
Our Community Sports Trust run girls’ sessions twice a week at the following locations and times…
Fridays | Slades Park 3G | 5pm-5.55pm |
Sundays | Vitality Stadium 3G | 11am-12pm |
These sessions will currently not be running in line with the national lockdown.
Once we’re able to resume sessions, places will be limited and must be pre-booked for a set number of weeks. All bookings must be made here.
