Josh first came to Bournemouth on a trial basis in pre-season 2005 and impressed management and fans in a string of friendlies against quality opposition at The Fitness First Stadium.

He knew Richard O'Kelly from a previous spell at West Bromwich Albion as a trainee and was invited to spend a few weeks with Bournemouth following an indifferent spell whilst at a Danish Club.

Gowling was signed immediately after a transfer embargo caused by an impending court case was lifted and went straight into the squad for the start of the season.

His chance came when Eddie Howe and Shaun Maher got injured and since then he has never looked back. Josh has proved an instant favourite with the fans for his quick burst of pace, positioning and no-nonsence style of defending.

Josh suffered an ACL injury in his knee during last season, but is fit again and eager to resume his fledgling career with AFC Bournemouth.
