Lee Bradbury picked out the performance of defender Steve Cook as one of the biggest positives to come out of the Cherries defeat at Chesterfield.
Cook watched on as Liam Ridehalgh beat Cherries goalkeeper Darryl Flahavan with a spectacular effort to earn bottom of the league Chesterfield three points at the B2Net Stadium.
The 20-year-old put in a strong performance and dealt with comfortably with Spireites target man Jack Lester, and was characteristically composed on the ball.
Cook was paired with Stephane Zubar for the second successive game, and was asked to play on the left side of the two in the absence of captain Adam Barrett.
Bradbury said, "He's done consistently well all season. We asked him to play on the left side of the central defenders and it's not something he's used to, but he's got the quality to do it.
"He steps out on his left foot as well as his right foot, he looks to play and he looked comfortable. He's been through a lot lately but put in some great performances.
"He's confident on the ball and come out of a development squad that like to play football, and he has transferred that into first team football."
Bradbury added that Cook had been unaffected by recent off field issues.
"He's not showing any signs of pressure. He's a strong character, just getting on with his football and that's what he wants to do," he said.
Cook signed for the Cherries on an emergency loan in October, and made 12 appearances before joining the club on a permanent basis from Championship side Brighton at the beginning of January.
