THE BIG MAN ON GRIMSBY CLASH

Posted on: Thu 18 Mar 2010

The Cherries make the long trip to Grimsby on Saturday and Steve Fletcher is expecting just as tough a game as Monday's game at Notts County.  Grimsby are fighting for their lives, but were boosted by an excellent 3-0 win over Shrewsbury in their last home match and will be desperate for the three points as they look to get out of the bottom two.

With the game equally as important to Bournemouth for different reasons, club captain Steve Fletcher is expecting a tough encounter, "In the huddle at the end of the Notts County game, we said that we have to take that form on to Grimsby.  It's going to be a totally different game, but just as difficult and we are going to have to show the same character and desire to get anything from the game.

We've taken four points off Notts County this season, and not many teams will do that, so it's important that we go to other places like Grimsby and get results.  They have pulled out a couple of good results recently and they will be confident of repeating what they did to Shrewsbury because they proved that they can get results in this league.

In a way, I'm glad that they won that game because we didn't want to go there with them not winning for 20 odd games, because eventually it will happen for them.  The expectancy is even higher if a team hasn't won for a long time, but it will be just as hard.  They may not have won many, but they have drawn a lot of games and that shows what a fine line there is in this division.

We have to carry on where we have left off in the last few games.  I've always said that the teams who will do well now are the ones who can put together a run of results and grind them out of needed.  We ground out a 1-0 against Morecambe and had a great result at Notts County because we just kept going and we need to show that from now until the end of the game.

You're only as good as your last game and Grimsby will be just as tough as any other game in this division."
