The Cherries may not be playing this weekend, but it's still a massive weekend for the club. Up until recently, many teams had a number of games in hand on Bournemouth, but most of those have now been played, and the Cherries have kept hold of their second place. Indeed, only Notts County can overtake us now by winning their games in hand. Rotherham, who have been playing catch up are now only two games behind and crucially seven points behind us. The most obvious exception are Notts County who have three games in hand over ourselves and third placed Bury.
League leaders Rochdale are six points clear at the top, but they have a difficult match at Shrewsbury. The Shrews are six points from the automatic promotion places.
Bury would be seen to be favourites for their trip to Macclesfield, but this will be a highly emotional encounter as the Macclesfield faithful will pay tribute to the life of Keith Alexander. A Bury win would put the Shakers above Bournemouth by one point, but they would have played a game more.
Chesterfield, who have been in fine form recently, take on Port Vale at Saltergate. Vale have been one of the most inconsistent sides in the league this season, but have proved to be more than capable on their day. A Chesterfield win by any score would put them above the Cherries as both sides have a goal difference of plus eight.
Rotherham United travel to Dagenham & Redbridge, with the Daggers still harbouring thoughts of the play offs.
