JOSH McQUOID

Posted on: Thu 11 Mar 2010

A matter of weeks can be such a long time in football, and that's what it's been for Cherries home grown midfielder Josh McQuoid.  In the away match at Morecambe in December, he trudged off after less than half an hour with the Cherries three down.  Fast forward to March, and Josh was in the Top Floor Restaurant being presented with a bottle of champagne from match sponsor Fibrecity as man of the match against the same opposition after a brilliant performance.

Josh was delighted to receive the accolade and now knows that he has to keep to that level of performance, "I was pleased to get man of the match and I felt it was the best I have played for Bournemouth and it's now up to me to keep that up.  Eddie has spoken to me and said the main thing now is consistency.  I've set a standard now, so if I play, I must play to that standard with also trying to improve all the time.

It's been good this week as we have been able to have a couple of days rest with the game not being until Monday.  As everyone knows, we have a few lads carrying knocks, so this has given them an extra couple of days to recover.  It's a big game at Notts County and one where we have to look to push on.

We can't do anything about what happens in games on Saturday and we could drop down the table without playing, but mentally, we can't let that bother us.  We can only think about ourselves and take each game as it comes and all we are concentrating on is the Notts County game.  They have games in hand on us, so we know how important it is because we want to keep pushing for that automatic place.  That is our aim and so we have to just take each game as it comes.

I just want to keep playing well and keep my place in the team.  The way I can do that is play consistently like I did against Morecambe.  Playing regularly helps any player make an impact in the side and gives you more confidence.  It's still a big learning curve for me, but one I feel I'm adapting to."
