AFC BOURNEMOUTH v BURTON ALBION

Posted on: Fri 25 Sep 2009

Burton Albion make their first trip to Bournemouth as a Football League club, and their first visit since 17 November 1956.  As a club, they were six years old then and travelled south for an FA Cup First Round tie. 13,245 saw Ollie Norris score a hat trick as the Cherries won 8-0 to start the incredible run in the competition that saw the side reach the quarter finals.

Now though, both clubs are on a level playing field and the Brewers have impressed this season with how they have adapted to life in the league and Eddie Howe is expecting a very tough game; "It will be a tough game as games against promoted teams always are.  I'm impressed with what Paul Peschisolido has done at Burton.  He has them playing good football and they have picked up some good results recently."

Bournemouth will give another last test to Sammy Igoe, who travelled to Darlington last week, but was unable to play due to a knee injury.  Marvin Bartley is unlikely to return to the bench as he is suffering from a broken bone in his hand.

Defender Guy Branston was shown a red card last week in Burton's 1-0 home defeat against Dagenham & Redbridge.  His place is likely to be taken by record appearance maker Darren Stride.

Tomorrows referee is Mr J Singh.
