MARVIN BARTLEY

Posted on: Thu 17 Sep 2009

The Cherries head to the North East this weekend in a game that is a total reverse of last seasons clash at Darlington.  The Cherries were down at the bottom in January while Darlo were at the top end for Eddie Howe's first match in charge.  This season, the Cherries sit proudly at the top while Darlington have struggled and only have one point.

Despite a hand injury sustained at Salisbury, Marvin Bartley is hoping to travel to the Darlington Arena and he knows that it is a totally different kind of pressure and he told www.afcb.co.uk; "We're there to be shot at.  I think no matter where we are in the league that is the case because we are one of the bigger clubs in this division.  They are down at the bottom and we are at the top, but we will take every game as it comes.

We showed on Saturday that despite not putting in the best performance, we got the three points and hopefully we can do that again on Saturday.  I was pleased to play my part in the third goal and if I'm fit enough for Saturday, but don't start, then I will have to look at coming on and making an impact again.

Darlington is one of the most difficult places to go to, but we have to take the pressure of that in our stride.  I couldn't believe the stadium when I first saw it last season, it's absolutely massive.  There are only supporters on one side and it's a weird place to play.  I think that takes a bit of pressure off them because there is not much of an atmosphere which means you can play quite freely.

It's a long way away, but I know we will be taking a good following as we always do.  Our supporters have been brilliant this season.  At Torquay, they took over the place and that was absolutely brilliant.  We appreciate all the supporters who are going to make the trip to Darlington and hopefully can get a result for them and everyone back at home."
