JASON TINDALL

Posted on: Sun 06 Sep 2009

Cherries assistant manager Jason Tindall was quick to recognise that yesterday's win at Torquay was not a vintage Cherries performance, but praised the players mentality as they ground out another three points.

He spoke to www.afcb.co.uk and said; "We said to the players at half time that it wasn't good enough. but the positive was that the game was still level.  That gave us the opportunity to go out in the second half and do what we've been doing well which is getting after teams and it paid off for us.

We scored two very good goals and we were delighted with that.  Credit to Torquay because they made it very difficult for us, particularly the strikers.  We felt because if that, we weren't getting enough quality to the forwards in the first half and made the change with Fletch coming on.  Brett and Alan worked their sicks off in the first half, but it just wasn't happening, so we made the change to give us a different dimension to try and exploit them at the back, and that's how it worked out for us.

Liam Feeney was excellent for us with the two assists for the goals.  He's a great lad who works extremely hard and when you put the effort and the time in like he does, the rewards are them for him on a Saturday.  They were two great crosses for the goals and he played a big part in the win as all the players did.

All the lads felt that we should have had another goal when Scott Guyett put the ball in the net.  Their keeper spilled the ball and even their players said afterwards that the keeper dropped it and it was a goal.  Some decisions you get, some you don't and thankfully it didn't cost us two points in the end.

It did look as if we would have to settle for a point, and a point away from home can always be considered good, but with the way we've been playing, and the form we've been showing, we want to win every game we play.  We have a winning mentality amongst the squad and the lads believe they are going to win every game and that is important.  The supporters were again magnificent and stuck with us and that made a hell of a difference and I'd like to thank everyone for travelling down in such good numbers and staying positive again throughout.

It's a great start to the season when you consider everything that has gone against us.  We have a wafer thin squad, but the lads have been exceptional.  A lot of hard work has gone in to getting the results, but we have to keep our feet on the ground and continue that work ethic."
