TORQUAY UNITED v AFC BOURNEMOUTH

Posted on: Fri 04 Sep 2009

The Cherries make the trip along the coast to take on Torquay United, now back in the League after two season's in the Conference, where they reached the play-offs on both occasions, beating Cambridge United 2-0 in the Final at Wembley in May.

They have made a solid start to the campaign and on Tuesday, recorded a 3-1 win at Cheltenham in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.  They should give Marvin Williams a place in the squad after he rejoined the club this week from Brentford.  He had previously come through the youth ranks at Torquay before moving on to Millwall and Yeovil.  Another player to return is Michael Pook.  The keeper has joined the club for the third time on loan from Southampton.

The Cherries will hope to have Steve Fletcher back as he is showing good progress from his hamstring strain.  Jason Pearce should also return after missing Tuesday with a calf problem.  Danny Hollands is back in training, although this game against a side he served on loan may be too soon.  The Cherries will still be without Josh McQuoid and Joe Partington who are away on international duty.

www.afcb.co.uk will as always be at the game, and as an improvement to the match day service, Andrew Lloyd Williams will be updating the site throughout the afternoon from Plainmoor.

Cherries supporters have the Sparkworld away end.  It is a covered terrace which is pay on the turnstile.  Entry is £15 adults, concessions £12 and Under 16's £6.

There are a very limited number of seats available on the day.  Entry is £16 adults, concessions £13 and Under 16's £6.

The usual route is to take the A35 to Dorchester and Honiton and then join the A30 to Exeter.  However the Dorchester Show takes place at the weekend and you are advised to avoid that road of possible.  A good alternative is to go through Wimborne to Blandford, to Shaftesbury and then Gillingham and take the road to the A303, which will take you on to the A35 at Honiton.

Join the M5 signposted Plymouth and after about five miles, get in to the left hand lane and follow signs for Torquay, the A380.At the Kerswell Gardens roundabout, take the A3022 signposted Torquay. As you enter Torquay, look out for the MacDonald's at an out of town shopping centre. Turn left here and the ground is well signposted.

The postcode for SatNav users is TQ1 3PS.

Mr. D. Sheldrake is the referee for tomorrows match.
