After being involved in all the first team games this season, Joe Partington put on a sparkling display for the reserves on Tuesday. The midfielder has shown his versatility by playing in a centre half role and he knows that with the size of the squad, that will stand him in good stead. Joe is off next week for duty with the Wales Under 21 side, but his priorities remain at AFC Bournemouth and he is hoping to still be involved in all the games next week.
Joe was pleased with his showing on Tuesday and will now be hoping to take that form in to first team games as he is desperate for the opportunity; "It was important to put in a performance like that. We had a few professionals playing on Tuesday who play in my position and we all want to be in the first team starting eleven. The management were at the game and it was good that we could show them what we're capable of and plead out case for a first team place. I was pleased with my performance and it's nice for things I did to come off. As a team we played well and it was nice to get a couple of assists from the centre back position.
For me now I just want to be involved in the Crewe game on Saturday and after that, I'm not too sure what will happen. I'm involved in the Welsh Under 21 squad on Friday and we have Yeovil here on Tuesday. In an ideal world, I hope to be able to be involved with Bournemouth on Tuesday, then travel to Wales, hopefully be involved on the Friday in Swansea. The plan would be then to come back after the game and travel to Torquay. That's in the ideal world though and it would be down to Eddie to talk to the Welsh management and see what they say.
I am hoping to be involved in some shape or form against Yeovil because the most important thing for me is to be involved with the Bournemouth first team. As much as it's a great honour to play for your country at any level, in the long term future, I'm only thinking about Bournemouth and I want to be involved here, so hopefully I will be able to be here for the games."
