ON THIS DAY
Posted on: Fri 15 May 2009
1982 - It was a day of great celebration at Dean Court as supporters could celebrate promotion, achieved a week before at Bradford. David Webb restored the players who had done so well after resting them for the midweek match at Hull. Just under 10,000 saw the side take on Hereford United, and the Bulls almost ruined the party when they took a late lead. However, Tony Funnell netted his 16th league goal of the season to spark off a mass pitch invasion. That invasion was repeated at the end as the 1-1 draw was quickly forgotten and the club could prepare for life in the higher division.
