The Cherries travelled to Shrewsbury Town this week looking to come away with all three points after last week's 0-0 draw with Rotherham but Jimmy Quinn's side went down 4-1.
The game started much like the Rotherham game as both side struggled to take control of the game but it was the homeside that took the lead and it was a debutant you broke the deadline. On loan Gylfi Sigurdsson who was signed from Reading midweek opened the scoring after 22 minutes, the goal was the first clear cut chance for the Shrews, as Grant Holt'seffort was impressively kept out by Shwan Jalal the young Icelandic midfielder fired in the rebound.
Bournemouth found themselves two down ten minutes later as Shrewsbury captain Ben Davies' effort left Jalal with no chance. Thing didn't improve before half time as Davies grabbed a second and Town's third. Jalal saved from both Grant Holt twice but again Shrewsbury were first to reaction and Davies made it 3-0 going into half time.
Fifth teen minutes into the second half sub Brett Pitman pulled a goal back for Jimmy Quinn's side. He was given time and space in the box which allowed him to slide the ball past the Shrewsbury goalkeeper.
Pitman's goal gave the Cherries hope and lifted the whole side but eighteen minutes later on loan Portsmouth defender Joel Ward was sent off after picking up a second booking.
After an action packed second half which provided end to end action Shrewsbury put the tie beyond doubt when Richard Walker grabbed Town's fourth on 90 minutes.
