Partington Stepping Up - 'Let me show what I can do' says youth team graduate

First year professional Joe Partington can't wait for the season to start and is eager to stake his claim on the first team. The Wales Under 19 captain broke into the squad last season making six substitute appearances and scoring one goal towards the end of the campaign.

The midfielder, who can also play at centre half or right back, knows it'll be tough breaking into the first team, but is relishing the challenge.

Partington said, "It was fantastic to be involved last year, but now I've been given a full contract I'm really looking forward to getting involved on a day to day basis and seeing what I can do.

"It's a massive step up in level so the experience from last season will be valuable. I know roughly what to expect and if I apply myself in the right way there's no reason I can't compete with the more established players already in the squad.

"I'm not going to start the season as a major player in the team, but hopefully I'll be able to impose myself on the team and take all the chances presented to me. I really want to show the fans what I can do and can't wait for the season to get started."
