Turning The Tables - Squad out to settle a score
Cherries Assistant Manager says last season's four nil home drubbing against Port Vale is still fresh in the memory and that the defeat will provide the squad with 'all the motivation they need' to go out and claim three points tomorrow.
Bournemouth have been boosted by the news of Lee Bradbury signing a permanent deal on a free from Southend. Port Vale have also been active in the transfer market snapping up highly rated forward Dave McGoldrick on loan.
Newman however, is confident that the Cherries defence will continue to shut out teams and prove difficult to break down. Newman said, "In the four games this season we've looked pretty strong. I'm confident anyone who plays against our defence at the moment is going to have a tough time.
"There's a great resolve amongst our squad. We've signed Jason Pearce and Ryan Garry who are two massive massive characters and they're the same on a Saturday as they are on a Monday morning at training.
"Those are the type of characters we need at this football club. It effects on the rest of the team and provides a positive atmosphere amongst the squad. Strikers are judged on goals and now that Jo Kuffour is off the mark with the monkey off his back hopefully he can go on to score many more.
"The motivation we need on Saturday is that they beat us twice last year. The last game of the season was a bit of a non-entity, but the four nil drubbing still leaves a sour taste in my mouth and there's still players here who played in that game. Hopefully that will provide us with all the motivation we need."
