AFC Bournemouth are safely through to the second round of the FA Cup after a 3-1 win away at Chesterfield. The Cherries bounced back from Jack Lester's early strike thanks to a Sammy Igoe drive and a brace from Alan Connell. Mark Little was sent off late in the game for the home side as Bournemouth secured their place in the hat for tomorrow's second round draw.
Sammy Igoe returned to the side with Steve Fletcher dropping to the bench. It was a bitter sweet experience for Igoe though as after netting early in the game, he was forced off late on with a nasty gash on his shin, which will require stitches.
The Cherries fell a goal behind early on when Jack Lester was given the freedom of the area to head in. A highly disappointing goal to concede, but Bournemouth reacted to the set back superbly. From then on, they controlled the game and quickly grabbed an equaliser. Liam Feeney crossed for Sammy Igoe who seemed to scuff his shot, but it had enough on it to go over the line, with Brett Pitman making sure.

After Anton Robinson saw a fierce piledriver turned away, Bournemouth took a deserved lead. A quickly taken corner caused all sorts of problems and Jason Pearce and Lee Bradbury headed the ball to the waiting Alan Connell who poked the ball over the line. Brett Pitman almost made it three before the break with a glorious effort that went just over.
Alan Connell came close twice after the break with headers as the Cherries always looked the more likely to make it three. Josh McQuoid came on to replace the injured Igoe and he was quickly involverd in the Cherries getting the all important third goal. His cross was dummied by Pitman allowing Connell to score his second of the afternoon and seal the tie.
McQuoid was then tripped as he rushed down the wing by Mark Little, who had earlier been booked for the foul that injured Igoe, and the red card was inevitable. The game was won by then though and it's the Cherries who march on in the FA Cup, with this impressive win.
