The Cherries are out of the Carling Cup after a slick Millwall put in a terrific display at the Den.
Jeff Goulding came in for Steve Fletcher and Ryan Garry came in for Scott Guyett in the only two changes from the Bury match.
Neither side created much in the early stages with Shwan Jalal slightly the busier of the two keepers. A superb save from Fuseini on 23 minutes signalled the start of some sustained Millwall pressure. That pressure finally yielded a goal on 31 minutes when Chris Hacket burst through and Jalal did well to block his shot, but the ball fell kindly to Gary Alexander who lashed the ball home.
Five minutes before the break it was 2-0 when Neil Harris ghosted in at the far post to poke the ball home. The Cherries best chance of the game came just before the break, Ryan Garry nodding the ball in to the path of Lee Bradbury who blasted just over.

Kicking towards the 339 Cherries supporters in the second half, Bournemouth fought hard to get back in to the game, but failed to trouble former Cherries loan keeper David Forde. The side should have had a corner, but incredibly it was given and just a throw in was the reward. From that, possession was lost and a superb passing move saw Harris score his second on 68 minutes. Three minutes later, Harris completed his hat trick with a spectacular strike from outside the box.
Try as they might, Bournemouth couldn't muster any consolation and no one could deny that they were beaten by a classy side. A heavy defeat, but not one that should dent confidence as this was excellent opposition.
