Notts County and AFC Bournemouth served up a treat for the Sky Sports viewers as the sides shared the points in a 2-2 draw, with the Cherries grabbing a point with a Jeff Goulding goal deep in to tine added on.
The pleasant spring day was replaced by a chilly night at Meadow Lane, with over 6,000 making a decent atmosphere, with the noisy Cherries supporters giving the side great backing throughout. Liam Feeney returned to the side with Josh McQuoid on the bench. Bournemouth named six players on the bench with Joe Partington returning.
In a bright start, Feeney set up Alan Connell who saw his effort cleared off the line. Feeney himself came close before County started to impose themselves on the game and they took the lead on 22 minutes. Rhoys Wiggins tripped Davies in the book to hand County a penalty. Lee Hughes took the kick and Shwan Jalal managed to save it, but couldn't prevent Hughes from netting the rebound. The Cherries were then saved and the by the linesmans flag as they netted for a second time, but it was ruled out for offside.
The Cherries were fired up for the second half and soon found themselves on level terms. Connell was fouled in a dangerous position and Brett Pitman brilliantly fired home the free kick. The sides were level for just four minutes though as Davies sent in an inch perfect free kick for Hughes to head home his second of the night.
County then started to play deep and the Cherries started to dominate. With five minutes remaining, Pitman saw a header brilliantly saved with Feeney firing the rebound in to the side netting. It could have been seen that then side would rue that miss, but three minutes in to time added on, Lee Bradbury was heavily involved in the goal that saw second place retained. He played the ball in to Goulding who showed great technique to net and send the 199 Cherries supporters in the ground in to raptures, and no doubt Cherries supporters all over the world!
A great point for Bournemouth and once again the side showed why they have enjoyed such a great season.
