Grant Payne reports from Dean Court.

Anton Robinson scored the winner on his 50th appearance as Bournemouth kept up their charge for promotion with a 1-0 victory over Morecambe at Dean Court.

The Cherries made the early running with Lee Bradbury firing wide after good work on the right by Anton Robinson.

The home side continued their fast start and will feel they should have taken the lead after just 3 minutes when Alan Connell put his header wide after a pin-point Lee Bradbury free kick.

The early pressure paid off as The Cherries broke the deadlock after 18 minutes. The Shrimpers defence couldn't deal with a lofted Lee Bradbury throw and after a Steve Fletcher flick; Anton Robinson scored his first ever home goal for the club, firing low into the bottom corner.

Morecambe had a chance to provide the perfect response for their away fans when there was confusion over an offside and Paul Mullen headed wide.

The home side continued to press with Brett Pitman firing straight at Barry Roach from 20 yards after good work by Steve Fletcher.

The Cherries should have doubled their lead after 33 minutes when a Rhoys Wiggins free kick evaded everyone and Brett Pitman couldn't convert at the back post.

But back came Morecambe and they should have been on level terms with 5 minutes to go of the first half when Captain Jim Bentley headed over from close range.

From that chance, the home team responded immediately as Brett Pitman sent Josh McQuoid clear but his shot went a whisker wide of the far post.

Play off contenders Morecambe started the second half stronger and should have been level after just 2 minutes of the re-start. Garry Hunter whipped in a low cross after skilful work down the right and Paul Mullen sliding in couldn't convert as it whistled past the far post.

Eight minutes into the second half Cherries man of the match Josh Mcquoid could have doubled the home sides lead. He latched onto a clearance and fired a spectacular shot from 20 yards out but The Shrimpers 'keeper Barry Roach was more than equal to the task with an expert touch over the bar.

After a slow start to the second half from The Cherries, they began to put the pressure on again with Brett Pitman twice firing wide within a matter of minutes.

With the away side failing to hit the target after and hour of play, they were still posing a threat on the break but the best they could muster was Craig Bentley's tame effort wide after 64 minutes.

With a crowd of over 5000 at Dean Court, the fans were sensing that Bournemouth would achieve only their third home win of the year.

It took the away side 79 minutes to finally get a shot on target and what a tame effort it was with Paul Mullen miss hitting a shot along the ground that was no problem for Shwan Jalal.

With just at 8 minutes to go the home fans were nearly silenced as Morecambe missed a glorious opportunity to draw level. The ball fell to Paul Mullen again for his third attempt of the game but he blazed just wide from 8 yards out.

Bournemouth thought they had sealed victory in the first minute of added time but Brett Pitman's effort was ruled offside by the linesman.

The Shrimpers threw men forward in the dying minutes but the home side held on for a precious three points in their chase for promotion.
