The Cherries kept up their perfect start to the season with a hard fought but deserved 1-0 win over promotion favourites Rotherham United.
The match winner was Ryan Garry, who scored his first ever senior goal, though can't remember a thing about it! Garry suffered a head injury minutes before the winner and carried on after treatment. He then headed home the winning goal, celebrated in some style before in the changing room at half time, thought his team mates were winding him up about the goal! He suffered concession and was unable to carry on, replaced by Scott Guyett, and the side played the second half with the same starting eleven at Bury.
It was a high tempo battle throughout with the Cherries creating the better of the chances. Good build up play saw Sammy Igoe cross for Mark Molesley, with the Cherries midfielder a shade away from a good connection. Liam Feeney was the next provider, his cross was met by the head of Brett Pitman, whose effort went just past the post. The two combined soon after with Pitman's effort this time gathered.
On the stroke of half time though, the Cherries made the all important breakthrough. Jason Pearce was fouled and Warren Cummings sent the free kick to the far side of the area. Steve Fletcher flicked on and then Lee Bradbury steered the ball in to the danger area who headed bravely home.
The Cherries started the second half brightly and Pitman came to within a whisker of making it 2-0. Anton Robinson was fouled on the edge of the box and Pitman took the free kick but was denied a goal by the woodwork.
Rotherham then brought on Adam Le Fondre for his debut and threw everything at the Cherries. It was a terrific rearguard action though, with the side helped by vociferous support from the home crowd, who gave the team tremendous backing.
There were in total seven minutes added at the end of the game, but the Cherries held firm to make it two wins and two clean sheets in the opening two games of the campaign.
